This is a GREAT little device!,

I work for a large major market radio station, and I picked this device based on Turtle Beach's good reputation and the recommendation of an engineer friend. It is amazing how much quality and technology they fit into this little thing for the money. I wanted something that would allow me to do some of my voice and production work at home, and e-mail them in to work, or bring 'em on a thumb drive, or send Mp3 files to clients for my voicework. This is perfect! I matched it to a mixer with good mic preamps and a phantom power supply, got a good AKG condenser mic, and now the stuff that comes off of my laptop sounds better than the mic I use at my studio at work! The Audio Advantage Roadie is on the air in L.A.! I am now running my turntable through it, and converting all my vinyl into digital.. and it sounds amazing - a little EQ, a little compression, a little "sweetening" and pop edits, and it sounds awesome on the car stereo, rich and full on the home headphones, big and full on the studio speakers at work. All my great old stuff is like NEW again! Don't try this with the soundcard that comes with your computer!! HUGE difference!! If you are an audiophile, this is the best $50 bucks you'll ever spend. You'll find yourself enjoying your DVD player on your laptop more, too. This opens up a whole world of new audio possibilities. Get ready for a new hobby! P.S. - Now with this, my laptop, mic, mixer, etc., I can bring a portable studio anywhere and set up, presto! I think this would be an ideal thing to have for anyone wanting to do a podcast. C-U!

This device is being replaced by a newer addition, so these are pretty inexpensive. I also read on a website that the new one is very similar to this device ... so it is basically a rebranding.I use it to record guitar/vocals with my laptop. The builtin sound card on the laptop is way too noisy. You can hear it write the hard drive on your recordings. I like the fact that this device was external, to eliminate the possibility of computer noise. It works great! Crystal clear!

I bought the unit for my desktop in order to output my DVD, CD's, iTunes to a Sony high-end receiver with the Toslink optical cable. It works perfectly and uses the USB as the output so the entire signal is digital. It draws power from the USB so there is no external power supply, which makes it very clean and uncluttered. The analog 5:1 cables, and mic in/headphone-line out make the product extremely flexible. It can be found for about $50 if you look around. This is a straight pass-through, so don't look for it to add any sound processing or special effects except through the control center and headphones via PC software.
