Great for frequent detailers, hides blemishes on black vehicles,

I've been a long steady purchaser of Meguiars products. This is the first "wax type" product I've found that rival's the Meguiars NXT results. While it doesn't last long, this product hides blemishes on a black vehicle very very well. Micro scratches, scratches, rock dents in the front bumper, metal, plastic, eveyrthing....
Very very easy to put on. You could probably apply to the whole car in 10-15 minutes max. Pretty easy to remove. Because it's great for plastic too, there is no time wasted trying to keep it off of your window rubber/trim or any other plastic on the vehicle. It is about the consistency of Rain X. Goes on very easy, comes off decently, leaves astounding results. For those who detail frequently, dislike white powder in the cracks and want to use a product that won't build up, this is it. This is the first new wax type product I've been happy with in about nine years. Not sure if I'll quit using Meguiars NXT but definitely less frequently. This stuff is a MUST for anyone that plans on trading in a black vehicle. You'll definitely make back the money and time you spend on "icing" the vehicle with an increased trade in value due to the dramatic hiding of scratches and blemishes. Only question pending is durability. I know it at least lasts two weeks because that's how long its been on the car. If you detail at least every two weeks then you should be very happy to switch to this product from Meguiars NXT. If you are a "wax a couple times per year" this is not a product for you.

The easiest to use wax I have ever used,
This review is from: Turtle Wax T-468 Ice Liquid Polish, 16 ounces (Misc.)
Here is the reply I got from Turtle Wax (Shelley's) Australia about this wax, I wrote to them after reading that negative reply... I must say I have waxed my car 5 times and have used less than half the bottle of wax.. I was also impressed with the ease of use and how quickly the job can be done (around 30 minutes). This ICE is great.. Thankyou for your enquiry. The ICE product does contain a small amount of carnauba wax, however the majority is a blend of synthetic waxes. The terms "wax" and "polish" are virtually interchangeable these days, but going by traditional definitions a polish is a product that contains a cutting agent that removes oxidised paint while a wax is a protective layer over the painted surface. Therefore, by traditional standards, ICE Polish is actually a wax as it contains no cutting agent and sits on the painted finish to form asmooth layer/shine. That is why ICE Polish is suited better to newer cars or cars with newer paint finishes. Older painted surfaces would need to be prepped with products such as ICE Liquid Clay Bar or Scratch and Swirl before using ICE Polish. The ICE Detailer was designed to refresh the original shine of the polish after washing to obtain optimal results. It does not need to be used. ICE Polish is designed to make water bead off it, like all other good polishes. This is from the smooth finish, which is the reason for the high shine level. I have never heard of this as being a negative before. One of the people in the office drives a blue car and they use the Ice Paste and have never had an issue with bad water spotting. To summarise, ICE does leave a wax layer to protect your paint surface. It is the hardest polish in our range, just beating F21 Paste and Super Hard Shell Paste. In relation to layering, there is no correct answer here as the more effort you put in, the better the result. There is no limit to the number of layers, the more layers that go on, the deeper the finish. Serious car enthusiasts have been known to put 12-15 layers on thier cars. However you need a high quality paint job to get the best results from the layering effort. Regards, Brendon Roberts Selleys Technical

I have a 6yo "Fire Pepper Red" Honda Accord and a 2yo Silver Honda CRV. The Accord hood looks like I drive on the beach or something, with all the tiny pin-prick chips sealed with traditional car wax. The CRV has more black plastic bumper material than any car in history.
I washed both cars and applied the polish in cloudy, 75degree weather. 1. The polish goes on very easy. It has a light oil feel too it, without feeling oily. Hard to explain. But it goes on very smooth. 2. The polish comes off much easier than normal wax, although on dark cars it requires a bit more wiping. No elbow grease here. 3. The polish works wonders on black vinyl/plastic. So much better than waxing without getting wax on the plastic, then using ArmorAll without getting it on the paint. This does both. 4. All those white pin-prick chips on the hood are nearly invisible now. My 6yo car looks new. 5. The scratches I've polished with marginal results are totally invisible now. The only trick is light-colored cars. It's a little bit hard to make sure you wiped it all off. But that's much better than realizing 2 days later that I missed a long strip of white wax. I've used about every car wax on the market, and this is the ONLY one that surprised me.

Warning! Do Not Use On Older or Oxidized Fiberglass!,

Today I washed and waxed my 1995 Winnebago Class C motorhome, and tried "Turtle Wax Ice" for the first time.
After reading so many glowing reviews for this product, I was excited to see what it could do for my 12 year old RV. I was looking for a product that would be very easy to use, but also give a long lasting and durable shine. I started by applying "Ice" to the front end of my motorhome which is a Ford E-350 Van. "Ice" has the consistency of baby oil and is easier to apply than any liquid wax I've ever tried. It's nice that it doesn't leave a white residue on rubber and plastic parts, but the overall shine was no better than many other waxes and polishes on the market. When the "Ice" dried, it left a hard to see haze, especially on my white vehicle. I found it very easy to miss many spots as I was buffing it out. The real trouble with this product began when I applied it to the FIBERGLASS on my RV. The fiberglass was clean, but oxidized, so I buffed the entire rig with polishing compound first. Then I washed and dried the entire fiberglass body. I applied a thin coating "ice" to one side of the motorhome and then waited five or so minutes for it to dry properly. I attempted to remove the dried polish with the micro-fiber towel that comes with the product, but I quickly realized the stuff was not coming off very easily. In my frustration, I pulled out my random orbiting power buffer, and I still couldn't get the dried "Ice" off the fiberglass! It looked as if I had applied the "Ice" and then forgot to remove it. Over and over I used the buffer, but it didn't look any better. I then tried to apply another thin coat of "ice" to a small area to see if I could somehow blend in the two coats, but that didn't work either. I was getting pissed and upset to say the least, and now my RV looked worse than before I started! With nothing to lose, I applied another brand of liquid car wax to the entire side that had the "Ice" on it, and hoped for the best. To my great relief, this wax buffed out to a beautiful streak free shine and made the fiberglass look like new again. "Ice" may be good for newer cars with clearcoat finishes, but stay away, far away, from this product if you are looking for a polish that will work on older fiberglass RV's and boats. Getting this stuff off older fiberglass was all but impossible! That's my two cents! Mike

This product is good on an already clean, waxed car and will give it a deep lustre-wet look.
Beyond that I was extremely disappointed. It says you can apply in the sun, but I had difficulty seeing where I had applied and the dried 'haze' in the garage. I applied in the evening and by morning it still had not dried completely. Maybe the 'wet' look is because it IS still wet. I had to put the car in the sun to be able to see all the streaks in order to remove them. It was impossible to see them inside. This product will NOT remove missed bugs, tar, blemishes, scratches or anything else that you may have missed. It looks great only if the car is already completely cleaned and waxed, then it will bring out a deep shine. So this is only good for a followup. Don't expect any more than that.

An easy solution to casual detailers,
By matt's long commute (Glen Burnie, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Turtle Wax T-468 Ice Liquid Polish, 16 ounces (Misc.)
Let me preface this review with the fact that I have tried numerous waxes/sealants over the years with diverse results. I approached this product with a bit of skepticism, as I have been burned before with other product's marketing hype. I would consider myself a casual detailer who details my daily driver on a consistent basis and occasionally do paid details to a select group of customers.
My test vehicle: 2008 Honda Odyssey (blue)prepped with Liquid ClayBar: Pros: First off, the product really goes on easily and you use a surprisingly little amount. I cannot vouch for the supplied applicator ( although it seemed fine) because I used a Cyclo polisher (with white finishing pads). I was literally able to wax the entire vehicle within a span of 15 minutes. It is incredible easy to remove the product and it does not leave any discernable residue. I also love the fact that it can be used in direct sunlight without adverse results. TW Ice left a nice crisp shine on the test vehicle. A pure carnuba based wax would leave a warmer shine, but the results were consistent with other synthetic waxes. Cons: Expensive compared to similiar waxes, but one uses very little per application so there is definite value there(a little does go a long way) Using the word "polish" is confusing. That is usually reserved for products that remove oxidation and minor defects in the paint. Ice Polish is a wax (last step protectant) with no abrasive (i.e. cutting) properties. If your vehicle has swirls, oxidation, etc it will need to be addressed prior to applying this. ( I had to address water marks with prior to applying this) Due to the fact that the product has watery consistency (unlike other waxes) it is easy to over apply the product. It is just a learning curve in my estimation. Overall, I am pleasantly surprised by this and the Liquid Claybar. They do work well together and the test vehicle has a nice smooth surface with greatly enhanced shine.

I'll start this review by being very upfront. I like my car to look NICE, but I don't like doing the work involved with making it look like that. Luckily, my husband has always dutifully waxed all of our vehicles, even though he had never particularly enjoyed the job either. So, this review is pretty much based on his experiences. He's not a computer sort of guy though, so it's up to me to do the review. =)
Last summer our neighbor (who has an obsession with washing/waxing his vehicles), told my husband about this Ice Liquid Polish. Since my car was due for waxing, hubby went off to the local Wally World to buy a bottle. I think he paid $16-$17 for it, and it included a sponge applicator and a small microfiber towel. Now, washing and waxing a car is normally a 1/2 day project for my hubby. About 40 minutes after he pulled my car out of the garage to wash and wax it (with the Ice), he came back into the house, plopped on the couch and turned on the game. I assumed he was tired and taking a break before he finished the car up. Much to my suprise, I found out he was completely finished...including cleaning my (pain in the butt) multi-spoked wheels. Since then, he makes it a point to wax my car with the Ice about every 2 months...simply because it doesn't take very long. The bottle, is still between 2/3 to 3/4 full, after 4 wax jobs. Granted, my car is pretty small (Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6), but it looks like this bottle is going to last for at least 12-14 waxes. That works out to about $1.20 per wax job. Besides the benefit of getting my car waxed now on a more frequent basis, I like the fact that this doesn't leave a white residue on the trim of the car. Hubby was always really bad about doing this with the previous types of wax he used, and my car would look sloppy as a result. So why did I give this 4 stars instead of 5? There is a downside...it isn't long lasting. According to Turtle Waxes own website ( http://www.icecarcare.net/main.taf?p=4), it will bead water and shine for at least 3 to 4 months under normal weather conditions. The website also says to apply Ice at least 4 times a year to keep the finish protected. Luckily, my hubby hasn't had a problem with applying this pretty often, but it is disconcerting that the product only lasts for an average of 3 months. I don't drive my Crossfire in the winter months (it is garaged), but I personally wouldn't rely on this particular product in the harsh winter driving months. But for a car like mine, which is garaged in the winter and never sees salt, it seems to be a good and convenient product.

Ice gives the best mirror shine I have ever seem on a black paint finish. And it works very well on trim pieces that usually turn white with other polishes or wax. It even cleans up the old residue that was left in the cracks and scratches from previous waxing. I suggest you give the car a good cleaning first to get the paint smooth. I used Turtle Wax polishing compound with a random orbiter and pad and did the whole car, then applied the Ice. The result was as smooth as, well...ice. I did this back in June and it still looks and feels the same. Wash your hands well after use as it is greasy and gets all over the place. And it will stain your clothes if you get it on you.

The best value for car wax is still the wet / dry spray on turtle wax at about $3.00 a bottle. But this new stuff does give a better shine. I bought mine at Wal-Mart for $16.88 which included a micro fiber cloth, applicator pad, and a bottle with enough to do about 8 wax jobs. If you follow the directions but use a little bit more than the label says you will get a good shine. If you then rinse the car and wipe dry with the same microfiber cloth you wiped off the polish with, you will get a great shine and will probably not use anything else. I haven't used any other premium wax, such as xymol, but this is better than any I have used.

I have had the same bottle of ICE polish ever since it came out. A little bit of this stuff goes a long way. This stuff goes on very easily, and buffs out with minimal effort. The finish result is pretty good. It may not be as good a shine as some Mothers or Maguires products, but here is the best parts about ICE polish: No white residue. I cant tell you how annoying it can be to use a regular paste, only to get a smear on a piece of black trim and have a white streak on your otherwise shiny ride. Its like playing "operation" on your car, and any black trim are like the electric sides. With ICE, you can zip over your whole care, black and plastic trim and add, without worry. In fact, ICE gives a bit of shine to any black pieces.
I use this stuff maybe once every 2 months. I also use liquid clay bar before i apply this stuff and the end product is fantastic. I used to spend almost 3 hours with a ton of cloths and applicators with the mothers 3 step products. The end results were nice, but I hated busting my hump to use them. Now, I wash, clay bar, polish and buff dry my whole scion tC in about 1 hour or so. The one downside to this stuff is on some color cars (like my blitz blue tC), it can be hard to tell if you missed buffing any spots. So to avoid this, go section by section, rather than the whole car at once and then buffing. This stuff tends to blend well into the car, and can leave a sticky swirl if you don't buff it out. |
