A Book Review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Penny the Pony Fairy (Pet Fairies, No. 7) (Mass Market Paperback)
Penny the Pony Fairy by: Daisy Meadows is about fairy pets that help pets in need. They end up losing their pets instead, because of an evil man named Jack Frost. The fairies' human friends have to help Penny find her pet soon, or Jack Frost will take her forever. This story mostly takes place in a forest. It begins when girls named Kristy and Rachel are riding their horses at a camp. When they are riding, the horses see Jack's goblins, and they get spooked. all the horses run like crazy, and Kristy and Rachel get separated from the rest of the girls. This is when they find Penny's magic horse, Glitters. The story goes on, Penny comes and tells the girls that the goblins are coming, so they hide under a big weeping willow. First, the goblins don't see them. Then, the goblins start bursting party poppers, and the horses run out of the tree and get lost. When the girls finally find Glitters, Jack has her and wont let her go. He has her on a rope, and then he rides away with her. He goes back to his castle. The girls are following him, he freezes the lake for him to pass. Then unfreezes it so the girls can't. All the ducks get very mad at him. I liked this book very much, but it was not one of my favorites. My favorite part was when Rachel and Kristy found Glitters for Penny. The main point of the story is showing how friends stick together, and help each other. I would probably recommend this book to my sister, Andre`, because she really likes books with fairies in them, and she likes horses, too.

These books sparked my daughters intrest in reading chapter books. I started reading them with her in kindergarten and by first grade she was reading them on her own. I would read each chapter as she completed it, then ask her questions. She has really good comprehension of these books and lots of laugher while she is reading. She is a rising third grader now and still enjoys the Fairy book series.
