"TWO TURTLES is a counting book for children and I thought it would be best if I asked a young man, barely into kindergarten, to do the reviewing for me. So, I gave it to him, he took it home, and he and his mother (an absolute novice at computers and electronic books) read it together. The comments I received were: It is real fun. Were going to read it again. I liked the pictures but mom didnt think there were enough. And mom said, It competes very well with TV. We will read it again. TWO TURTLES is a charming book with delightful pictures and is probably best suited for children just learning their numbers." About the Author

Valerie Hardin has loved children's books all her life, beginning when she had books read to her by her mother and teachers. She is also a published gothic poet, writer and artist with work in print, web and disk, but in her heart she feels she's just someone who writes children's books. Valerie tied for 2nd in the 1998 Preditors and Editors Reader's Choice Awards for "Dodge Ball" published in Jellybaby's Anthology.

She lives in the Midwest.

About the Illustrator:

Karla Ferkey-Houghton lives in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, with her husband, Mark. She likes drawing and painting Native American and wildlife subjects. When she has time, she enjoys attending powwows.

Two Turtles was an excellent book for many reasons besides the fact I love turtles. It is a simple way for children to learn how to count and understand many different activities. Because it is illustrated, children can learn what a certain word connected to an activity means. Which would make it great for small children learning how to read or count. Not to mention it's a really cute story and will have parents trying to get their older kids to read it. Example: My mom. But I think its just kind of cool and really funny so you ought to read it if you haven't.

TWO TURTLES is a charming counting book for children, which is full of delightful drawings. It is best fitting for children who are just learning their numbers. Valerie Hardin's book is written clearly and in a simple way that children will want to read it again and again. It is a great book for teaching your child how to count. My three year old and two year old absolutely loved the book and actually, I read it four times in a row. If you do not already own this book, buy it. I highly recommend it.
