This book is a great start for people interested in keeping pet turtles and tortoises. It has excellent photos, a fun design and writing that is easy to understand. Kids can follow the book's advice and instructions without a problem.

One of the best aspects of this book is the chapter on different species of turtles and tortoises and how to care for them. If you read this chapter before you go out and get one of these pets, you'll have a much great chance of success in keeping your turtle or tortoise alive.

I highly recommend this book for both kids and adults who are planning to embark on turtle or tortoise ownership.

Don't let the fact that this book is designed for kids fool you. If you just want to get some beginning knowledge about these creatures, you'll get it quickly by reading this. It's also just fun to read with lots great photos. It's part of a trio of books by this author that I bought for my friend's 9-year-old. The others are about lizards and snakes. This book is one of three written by Reptiles Magazine editor Russ Case. All three are extremely easy to read, full of useful information and a great introduction to the care & keeping of reptiles.

My teenage son has read all three and the only problem now is choosing what pet to start with! I can highly recommend all three.

This book is ideal for beginners and is both fun and easy to understand. Kids can learn fun facts about these great animals and also find out how to best care for them so their pet has a long, healthy life. Definitely a must-have for new turtle and tortoise keepers!

simply a great book, covers the gamut with great photos & illustrations, and easy to follow writing

I bought this book for my 10 year old grandson who had just acquired a pet turtle while on a family camping trip. After reading the book we realized the turtle should be returned to his natural habitat and we did just that. Now my grandson is using the book for research on how to properly obtain and care for one of these creatures. The author's authority on his subject and his reader-friendly style made this a valuable and enjoyable experience for a young pet lover.

I wish I had this book when I had my tortoise a few years back. It has inspired me to get another one and apply my new knowledge. Great book, comprehensive, and easy to follow through on tips.
