As much fun to cook from as it is to browse through!,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Tuscan Seduction: A Romantic Cookbook for Two (Hardcover)
Featuring more than ninety wonderfully simple, elegant, delicious recipes that showcase a special culinary tribute to the seasons and regions of Tuscany, James Lambeth and Miles James' A Tuscan Seduction is superbly enhanced with color photography and is as much fun to cook from as it is to browse through. From Coniglioalla contadina (Peasant Style Braised Rabbit), Verdure d'inverno arrosto (Winter Root Vegetables Roasted in Olive Oil), and Sinco d'agnello ripieno con carciofi (Artichoke Stuffed Lam Shanks), to Prosciutto di Parma e melone (Parma Prosciutto with Melon and Mint), Schiacciata al sambuco (Rosemary Flat Bread), and Panzanella (Tomato and Bread Salad), A Tuscan Seduction is organized within menus, offering a mouth-watering presentation that will excite the appetite and please the palate of even the most discerning gourmet.

Big Disappointment,

A poorly conceived and executed cookbook -- you are better off saving your money or getting something else. The food ideas are very BASIC, and short of a few stock photos, the pics are amateurish.

I recently ordered A Tuscan Seduction and Soffritto: Tradition and Innovation in Tuscan Cooking, and they couldn't be more different books. Don't bother with A Tuscan Seduction; head directly for Soffritto.A Tuscan Seduction is crippled by its poor production. The photographs are ugly, often poorly arranged; many look like they're digital photos. Often the print on a page is run over a photo and is obscured by it. Somebody involved in the production seemed to think that it was a good idea to run the recipes in two or three columns on a page; it only makes it more difficult to follow the text. The recipes aren't bad but the production of the book leaves it difficult to follow or find them. Don't waste your time with this one.

Extremely bad layout!,

This book is a great disappointment. The graphic design and layout is very unprofessional. The receipes are formated in a way that are hard to read, as well as choice of color. While the book is consistent in its format, its not appropriate in all cases. The photographer is WAY too fond of motion blurr. I want to see what the food looks like, not have it wisking away from me. The receipes are decent, but given how things are presented, make me not want to try them.

What a wonderful concept in a cookbook! The recipes were wonderful of course, but the presentation makes this more than a cookbook. It's refreshing to actually be able to display my cookbook like a fine piece of art, romantic as the title states.
