Beautiful, has some concerns..., November 28, 2004
This review is from: Tuscany 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set (Baby Product)
I registered for and recieved this set but was a little disappointed to see a very basic safety feature left out. I know that many people advocate against using any type of bumper, but I think with basic common sense it is okay. However, this very popular brand has ties that tie the bumper from the top and only has bottom ties in the 4 corners. General safety standards recommend ties on top and bottom all the way around because some babies have crawled under the bumper only to get their little heads stuck on the top. This scares me and I will sew my own ties all around, but for the price I would have expected to see this already done for me. The quality is good and the colors are beautiful for a little boy or a girl. Had I noticed the ties in the store I may not have registered for it, but I took it home and set it up, it looks so cute and I don't want to find anything else at this point. I will just add the ties myself.

We Love It!, February 20, 2005
This review is from: Tuscany 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set (Baby Product)
After much looking and debating, we decided on the Tuscany Crib Set. Many of the choices out there are just too cutesy and corny for our tastes. We like the neutral color scheme that works well with either a boy or a girl. The set seems durable and has interesting fabric texture combinations. We also purchased the matching border and painted the room a coordinating green and yellow. It looks great. The only complaint we have is the lack of coordintating pieces. I spoke to Babies R Us about this. Their explanation was that it was new on the market. Depending on how well sales went, many new matching items such as wall hangings, plate covers, etc could be on the way.

It's OK, but..., May 4, 2005
This review is from: Tuscany 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set (Baby Product)
I purchased this set because I wanted the dust ruffle to go with my sheets and window valances. I choked as I spent $189, but I figured that since the set included a sheet, a window valance, and a diaper holder, it wasn't a complete waste. I didn't particularly care about the quilt (aka "wall hanging"), and I had no intention of using the crib bumper.
When I went to wash the valances and dust ruffle, the instructions said they should not be ironed. I thought that was silly, since they are 100% cotton, so I ironed them. Nothing bad happened, and they look great in my son's room. As others have noted, the sheet is tight-fitting, but from what I understand, it is supposed to be tight-fitting for safety reasons. I have no problem with that. The crib quilt has a pocket across the top into which one can slide a rod for hanging the quilt on the wall. That is a nice touch. When my son kept getting his legs caught in the crib slats, I broke down and put the crib bumpers in his crib. As others have said, the crib bumpers weren't long enough to go all the way around the perimeter of the inside of the crib. I've been using them anyway.
Generally, I like this set, but for the amount of money it cost, I would expect the crib bumper to be long enough to do its job.
