4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, has some concerns...
I registered for and recieved this set but was a little disappointed to see a very basic safety feature left out. I know that many people advocate against using any type of bumper, but I think with basic common sense it is okay. However, this very popular brand has ties that tie the bumper from the top and only has bottom ties in the 4 corners. General safety standards...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK, but...
I purchased this set because I wanted the dust ruffle to go with my sheets and window valances. I choked as I spent $189, but I figured that since the set included a sheet, a window valance, and a diaper holder, it wasn't a complete waste. I didn't particularly care about the quilt (aka "wall hanging"), and I had no intention of using the crib bumper.

When I...

General safety standards recommend ties on top and bottom all the way around because some babies have crawled under the bumper only to get their little heads stuck on the top. This scares me and I will sew my own ties all around, but for the price I would have expected to see this already done for me. The quality is good and the colors are beautiful for a little boy or a girl. Had I noticed the ties in the store I may not have registered for it, but I took it home and set it up, it looks so cute and I don't want to find anything else at this point. I will just add the ties myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars We Love It!, February 20, 2005

This review is from: Tuscany 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set (Baby Product)
After much looking and debating, we decided on the Tuscany Crib Set. Many of the choices out there are just too cutesy and corny for our tastes. We like the neutral color scheme that works well with either a boy or a girl. The set seems durable and has interesting fabric texture combinations. We also purchased the matching border and painted the room a coordinating green and yellow. It looks great. The only complaint we have is the lack of coordintating pieces. I spoke to Babies R Us about this. Their explanation was that it was new on the market. Depending on how well sales went, many new matching items such as wall hangings, plate covers, etc could be on the way.

When I went to wash the valances and dust ruffle, the instructions said they should not be ironed. I thought that was silly, since they are 100% cotton, so I ironed them. Nothing bad happened, and they look great in my son's room. As others have noted, the sheet is tight-fitting, but from what I understand, it is supposed to be tight-fitting for safety reasons. I have no problem with that. The crib quilt has a pocket across the top into which one can slide a rod for hanging the quilt on the wall. That is a nice touch. When my son kept getting his legs caught in the crib slats, I broke down and put the crib bumpers in his crib. As others have said, the crib bumpers weren't long enough to go all the way around the perimeter of the inside of the crib. I've been using them anyway.

Generally, I like this set, but for the amount of money it cost, I would expect the crib bumper to be long enough to do its job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tuscany Idea, October 7, 2005
This review is from: Tuscany 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set (Baby Product)
I was thinking about buying the Tuscany bedding set. I see that people are complaining about a lack of accessories.... I had an idea. Cut portions of the wall border which can be purchased for this set and frame it for matching pictures. You could even use the wall border as decoupage to make other accessories (storage boxes, light switch covers, etc.)

2.0 out of 5 stars Ties are not secure, April 28, 2005
This review is from: Tuscany 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set (Baby Product)
I too purchased this bedding because of its neutral colors. I liked the color scheme, the thickness of the bumper, and the soft fabric, but was disappointed in the lack of ties on the bumper. Only 8 altogether, and unlike a previous reviewer mine had no bottom ties. I have a standard crib and the bumper is almost and inch too short, so there was a gap where the two ends didn't meet. Also, after two days one of the ties popped off altogether; literally just fell off at the seam. I'm returning this to BRU tomorrow, and I'll be purchasing a different set.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice, but has problems, September 22, 2005
This review is from: Tuscany 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set (Baby Product)
I really like the pattern and colors of this bedding. However, the bumper pad does not fit all the way around our crib. Also, the sheet shrank up so much that I couldn't get it back on the bed.

Crib bedding is nice, but a waste of money. The only piece of bedding that we are still using is the curtain. The comforter is hanging over the chair since you are not suppose to use covers for infants. The crib sheet ripped. The bumper pad did not fit. The ruffle is off the crib now since the crib is lowered all the way.

This set is really nice, great for boys/girls, don't know why it only comes w/ one valance(how many b-rooms only have one window?). It would definetly be nice to have other accy's(wall hangings, etc) as this is a very good pattern.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Set for First Baby, August 29, 2007

This review is from: Tuscany 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set (Baby Product)
My husband and I were expecting our first child and I was in denial about my baby being a girl for the longest time (I wanted a boy, lol.) Well, I refused to buy some frilly thing. Before I was pregnant I worked at Babies R Us and I had my heart set on William by Nautica (and I still do...) but my husband didn't want to get something blue for a girl. So we were browsing the store and I saw the valance for this set. I remembered it from when I worked there and found out there weren't anymore in the store because they were being discontinued. I found this item on eBay and spent about $100 on it.

I love this set. I don't now why people are complaining about the crib bumper being too short. I have the Madison Lifetime crib (which has a solid headboard, making it difficult to tie the bumper, but not impossible) and the bumper fits just fine. The sheet fits tight (like it's supposed to, as a preventative measure to SIDS), the dust ruffle doesn't got to the ground yet (because my daughter is still young, so the mattress is still high), the valance fits on the window just fine and we've hung the comforter on the window (it had a nifty rod-pocket, so it was easy to hang). Even better, as my daughter gets older and when the crib converts into a toddler bed, I can still use the same sheets and dust ruffle!

I would recommend this to everyone, but it's discontinued and the only place I know you can still buy it is from eBay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daughter LOVED this set Wife Made accessories Nursery Looks GREAT, April 7, 2007
This review is from: Tuscany 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set (Baby Product)
I was browsing when I came across this set for the nursery, the exact set we purchased for my daughter. We knew she was having a boy but she loved the sage and golden tones. We purchased the set and she did have problems with the sheets shrinking but she received so many plain sage and gold sheets that it didn't really matter. My wife is a crafter of all sorts of crafts and she made plaques, light switchplates and outlets, lamp and lamp shade, and even a area rug. My daughter purchased the mobile but didn't open it until she put the final touches on the nursery and noticed there was several pieces missing so she was never able to use it as a mobile but the wife hung them from the knobs on the dresser. The nursery is so cozy and warm and perfect for a boy or girl(she's having another one in 4 months!)Jonah won't even be 2 when he/she arrives and she's going to purchase a plain sage bedspread for his toddler bed which he will share the room with his new brother or sister.
