5.0 out of 5 stars Great Non-Toxic Disposable Wipe Alternative!
According to the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Database, these are the least toxic wipes you can buy. 2.0 out of 5 stars Tushies
As far as wet wipes go, this isn't bad. The cloths are a little thin and theres no way you can keep the wipes in your car without them drying out. The box is flimsy, but you know--- if you're wanting to avoid chemicals and come in contact with a few less toxins during the course of your day, then these might be just what you're looking for. Don't buy the boxes... buy the...

According to the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Database, these are the least toxic wipes you can buy. After discovering the unscented Target-brand wipes we use contained a nasty chemical called 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-Diol which ranks as a 10 (worst) hazard, we were eager to find an alternative like the Tushies brand. We first tried Seventh Generation - which is comparable price-wise - but they gave my daughter a nasty rash on her bum, and besides they were so dry it took far too many to wipe her completely clean.

What I like about the Tushies wipes is primarily the short list of ingredients, all of which are considered to be relatively safe from a chemical standpoint. The wipes themselves are really moist, so it takes less of them to clean up after a messy diaper, an important factor when you're paying so much per pack of wipes. The wipes are attached to one another, like paper towels, with perforations between each individual wipe. This may take a little getting used to. If you don't already have some tubs lying around, you might want to start with a tub, because the refills would make for a difficult diaper change if you're pulling them directly from the package.

Unlike commercial wipes, the Tushies do tear easily (like if you pull them out of the tub too vigorously), but they stay together just fine during wiping. They do not, like commercial wipes, have that sliminess that transfers to baby's bottom or any other surface you wipe with them. Instead the liquid in them is more like a mild soap.

I'm really pleased with them, and after a week of use, I think I can safely say that they do not cause a rash in my daughter as 7th Generation's wipes did. However, don't expect that another sensitive child would react the same way to either brand. I'd recommend always trying one container before you make a huge investment in them. An ingredient that doesn't bother one child may well bother another. I've found none of these things are truly hypoallergenic.

Also, I wanted to correct to misinformation from another review on the plastic tubs containing phthalates and the idea that these may leach into the wipes. These tubs are made of polypropylene, which is inherently phthalate and BPA-free. It is also 100% recyclable, and is the same material Preserve recycles to create everything from eco-friendly toothbrushes and razors, to plastic dinnerware. I understand some people want to avoid plastics all together, and that's understandable, but if you were going to make an exception to a no plastic rule, I would choose polypropylene. This is not one of the dangerous plastics, it is food grade and widely used. If you want to avoid phthalates look for recycle code #3 (and sometimes #7). PVC is the phthalate-containing plastic.

If you're looking for a safer baby wipe, this is the best one out there.

I found out that ordinary or more common wipes had harmful chemicals in them so I decided o try these. I have been using them for over a year now. They are the best. I believe that they are even biodegratable. They work well, smell good, there is no difference from other brands I used other than I know they are not harming my baby !

We are actually using this product on my mom who had a stroke and is now bedridden. She reacted to many of the nursing home's products so we found this at a health food store and it works great. Buying it in bulk from Amazon saved mucho money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Back to Tushies for a concerned chemical safe dad. Ingredients provided, April 13, 2011

I don't do many reviews as I don't have time to do so, but when something is really important to my son, I have to speak out. We just started using our newly ordered Tushies Wipes again after switching from Nature Babycare (NATY) Wipes. Tushies are available in plastic tubs or refills for the same price. Made in the USA, the wipes come out to $.027/wipe as opposed the NATY's Wipes which is slightly cheaper at $.022/wipe. The Tushies wipes are much thicker and separate easier (a big complaint from many NATY wipe reviewers), but they are made from a paper fiber which means that they can tear on rough wiping. If you're using the wipe on your baby's bottom, and face, you won't (I would hope not) exert enough force for them to tear. Here are the ingredients to Tushies as specialized on the packaging:

Water, Aloe Vera, Glycerin-Vegetable Derived, Allantoin, Panthenol, Vitamin E, Tartaric Acid, Potassium Sorbate.

My product review for the NATY wipes can be found as the most helpful review for their product. Here is the linke to the NATY wipes: Nature babycare Eco-Sensitive Fragrance-Free Wipes, 70-count Boxes (Pack of 10)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great wipes but need improvement !, March 24, 2011

This review is from: TushiesWipes, Unscented Natural Formula with Aloe, 80 Wipe Pop-up Tubs (Pack of 12) (Health and Beauty)
I picked them b/c I was looking for a product with no chemicals, natural as possible. Very good wipes. No scent and no chemicals. Great Non-Toxic Disposable Wipe Alternative but they need improvement. Wish the wipes were separated like other wipes. They are not folded like other wipes, they are perforated but difficult to tear off one handed. The container doesn't really help to separate the wipes. You pretty much have to use both hands; one to hold the wipe and the other the bag or container to tear apart the sheets. The cloths are a little thin and break easily especially when you have a few wipes left in the container, the bottom wipes are more moist and wet than at the top which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
I will use Seventh Generation wipes, they are easier to tear off.

This review is from: TushiesWipes, Unscented Natural Formula with Aloe, 80 Wipe Pop-up Tubs (Pack of 12) (Health and Beauty)
When my TushiesWipes supply was near depletion, and my UPS guy was late delivering my order, I almost panicked! The TushiesWipes are fantastic, and they're not just for little ones. The wipes are superb for quick makeup brush sanitizing and, well, other things. (Hint: The wipes work well on ALL tushies!)

I use the dispenser tubs at home, but pack the refills in my travel bag. I really appreciate the quality and wholesomeness of the wipes--no dangerous, harmful or irritating chemicals---and keep them on hand at all times.

When I discover something that has made life easier (or more pleasant), I enjoy sharing the good news with others. I'm even considering giving TushiesWipes as a gift to a close relative; you cannot go wrong with this product!

These wipes work well and don't have any mystery ingredients. I just wish they were less expensive.

The box is flimsy, but you know--- if you're wanting to avoid chemicals and come in contact with a few less toxins during the course of your day, then these might be just what you're looking for. Don't buy the boxes... buy the refills and insert them in your Huggies wipe box. You'll be a lot better off. One final question... why not offer a tin wipe box. If folks are concerned with the chems in their wet wipes, don't you think they'd be concerned about pthalates leaching into the wipes from the plasticizers in the box? If you're going to spend a little more on healthy wipes, might as well cover all your bases!

4.0 out of 5 stars Love these wipes!, December 20, 2011

These wipes are great because they don't have a scent like most wipes with fragrances that stink. They are gentle on the skin and not filled with harsh chemicals or toxins that all other baby wipes contain. Please spend a little extra to keep your child safe. It's worth the extra money to not put harmful chemicals on your child or on yourself. Anything you put on the skin is absorbed into the skin and can cause damage to your body if toxic.

5.0 out of 5 stars much better than Nature Baby Wipes, November 17, 2011

This review is from: TushiesWipes, Unscented Natural Formula with Aloe, 80 Wipe Pop-up Tubs (Pack of 12) (Health and Beauty)
Tried Nature Baby wipes but these are SO much easier to get out of the packaging which counts when you have a squirming, dirty baby. Wipes on the bottom get very wet and drippy, but I sometimes store the container upsidedown to help this.
