extremely underestimated manga,

so... viz is FINALLY coming out with a whole line of new titles? Interesting... Basically, this was my first and only thought when I found this out. And when I saw that the new manga line up consisted of a 'girl-meets-penguin?' romance, I thought it was simply the most ridiculous thing ever. Out of all the good manga that has yet to be published... they bring something like this? However, like aways, looks can be deceiving. I read a sample chapter from the viz manga sampler book and was immediately sucked into the storyline. Tuxedo Gin is surprisingly really, really good! Yeah, it looks lame. That's what I thought too, but this book is pretty darn funny and interesting. Trust me. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

THIS IS THE COOLEST MANGA EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
This review is from: Tuxedo Gin, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
Alright, so I've been reading manga for a while now, and of course you get some great stuff in this genre, and of course you get some stereotypes. This is flat out, the greatest manga of all time. I've finished the first three, and can't wait for the next one. Alright, I'm a 27 year old male, so don't think it's a kiddie thing... but this book just rocks. It's got some really heartfelt romance (some a la sappy manga style-- so what???) and it's got great action... and it contains THE most laugh-out-loud hilariously funny sequences ever. I would feel almost embarrased to read it in public because it makes me laugh so much... And, hell, it's about a boxing penguin who is the reincarnation of a guy who just fell in love with a girl at first sight... only to be snatched away before they even had their first date. That part kinda reminds me of Meet Joe Black.... Ahh, but I ramble. If you like any of the following: penguins, romantic elements that aren't too girly and sappy (but I'm sure they'd appreciate it too), Straight up AWESOME and original humor, if you want something different in your stereotypical manga or stereotypical life, if you ever wanted to see Rocky remade as a Penguin.... GO OUT NOW AND BUY THIS!!!!!! you will love it... I can read this book over and over... I can read it once and then pick it up and read it all over again, And feel completely immersed in the beauty and genius of Gin-Chan!!!!!

Love the Pengie...,

Gin-chan is SOOO cute! The only reason I got this manga was because I love penguins, but I am glad I did! It is a romantic comedy somewhat along the lines of (but not as funny as) Rumiko Takahashi's works (Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha), most of the comedy stemming from the fact that the main character has been reincarnated as a penguin, and as a penguin he is picked up as a pet of the very girl he has a crush on. Only until he has lived his life out as a penguin can he return to his own human body and date the girl he likes. There are some intense, serious moments, which are wonderfully balanced with the humor to create an intriguing story. Why not 5 stars? The storyline doens't flow as well as it could, sort of as if the artist didn't completely bother to fill in the gaps that take place when published in a weekly paper such as the Shonen Sunday. Still, it's an intersting story, and I am looking forward to getting the other manga in the series when they come out.
