Average stoner rock album, June 5, 2009
This review is from: Tweak'd Out, Strung Up & Redlined (Audio CD)
Tweak'd Out, Strung Up & Redlined is the second album from New York rockers Eighteen Wheels Burning, who build a clear appreciation for classic rock (Zeppelin, Sabbath and Deep Purple) into their stoner rock sound.
I can't really get too excited about this one. Stoner rock isn't the most inventive of genres, and Tweak'd Out, Strung Up & Redlined is a very typical stoner rock album with its Sabbath-inspired grooving riffs and distorted vocals. It's unusually up-tempo for this kind of music, which keeps some of the expected sludge from the overall sound. It gives the album a hard rocking vibe as well, but by the end of the album I just wish they had covered "Space Truckin'" and "Highway Star" and gotten it over with.
Tweak'd Out, Strung Up & Redlined is a perfectly solid, rocking album. It's also completely predictable and not really very necessary. If you're big into stoner rock, it should satisfy, but it's definitely not anything you haven't heard before.
