This review is from: Tween You & Me: A Preteen Guide to Becoming Your Best Self (Paperback)
This book is a must have if you have children approaching the "Tween" stage of life. I loved the insight, positive self talk the celebration of personal differences and the kindness to oneself. These are messages that we all can learn from at any age. I found myself saying some phrases to myself. I am buying one for all of my friends with daughters. I will be waiting until a book for boys comes out.

Once a tween, now a teacher,

This review is from: Tween You & Me: A Preteen Guide to Becoming Your Best Self (Paperback)
As a teacher, reading this book helped me think about the way I guide my 92 tweens (7th graders) everyday. Every topic brought up in the book has been brought up either in class or to me personally by a student. It helped me assess how I talked to them about the situation and how I could better explain things in relation to their lives in the future. Some of the topics discussed that I hear almost on a daily basis from my students are siblings getting more things or attention than them, families fighting and how they can't tell friends because they think their friend's families don't fight, as well as self-esteem concerns. Every tween should read this book so they don't feel alone in the world. I can't think of one that would not be able to relate to Tween You and Me. I also feel that parents should read this book so they can think back to what it was like when they were young and be able to truly understand what they're Tween is going through at both home and school. It gives so many answers to the statements "I don't know why my son/daughter is acting this why" or "I don't know what to do with my child anymore." Great, easy, fun, and interesting read.

Prompted discussion with granddaughter,

This review is from: Tween You & Me: A Preteen Guide to Becoming Your Best Self (Paperback)
I was delighted to come across "Tween you and Me". I read it from cover to cover and wished I had access to such wisdom when I was a young girl. I immediately purchased the book and the journal for each of my granddaughters. It helped me to open a dialogue with them and we have continued our discussions on the joys and difficulties of growing up.
Here's what my granddaughter had to say: This book was really good. It helped me to look at myself in a more positive way. I am using the journal because it helps me like the way I am. Amy, (age 12) from Phoenix, AZ

Wonderful Book for Pre-teens and their parents,
By Heather "archangels mom" (Boxford, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tween You & Me: A Preteen Guide to Becoming Your Best Self (Paperback)
This is a wonderful resource for parents of tweens. It offers poignant examples of some of the difficult challenges our tweens face, and hopeful, actionable suggestions for how both tweens and their parents can help navigate these choppy waters. I found this book to be such a great resource, I've bought it for my neices and am planning on making it my default gift to every girl in my life who reaches this stage of development. The journal is even more useful from the child's perspective, because it makes them feel as if they are part of the process and have some element of control over changing their lives for the better!

I had such a positive feeling after reading the book I immediately recommended it to everyone I knew who had pre-teens in their lives. I was impressed with the way the author captured and engaged the reader to think about the value in themselves.
You won't go wrong with purchasing this book!

Comfort and Guidance for Tweens,
By Maven ""A"" (MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tween You & Me: A Preteen Guide to Becoming Your Best Self (Paperback)
This book offers comforting, reassuring and clear guidance to tweens on a topic that inspires most of them: their feelings! The author has a compassionate and accepting voice, with just the right amount of humor. Topics include: feelings of inadequacy, concerns about appearance, and anxiety about family and friends. The author shares some effective techniques for managing feelings. My tween loves the book AND the journal, with the whimsical graphics and the conversational format. The book IS a conversation, and may SPARK a great conversation...TWEEN YOU and the tween in your life!
