4.0 out of 5 stars Useful indeed
If you have toenails that are prone to being ingrown, you need this tool. It is easy to keep your nails in good order with it. It works very well, and is sturdily constructed - not at all flimsy.

3.0 out of 5 stars kind of thick
I haven't had a lot of luck with this design. The metal is high quality, but formed out of a very long, thin cylinder -- not thin enough, though, to fit where it needs to fit. I had a file like this at once time that was flat and thinner, which I'm looking for this afternoon, I want to buy another one like that. This one hasn't really been as useful, it's just too thick.

1.0 out of 5 stars useless, November 4, 2007
I'm sorry to say this thing is useless. It has no filing ability on either end of the file. The filing ridges are too far apart to accomplish anything. The size and style are perfect to get into where an ingrown toenail would be, but the filing surface renders it useless. Returned immediately.

file, dipping the file in alcohol each time,as the instructions say, well it was my idea to dip each time. file gently, you know you're doing it right when you see a little substance that looks like wet dead skin, the kind on your heels.don't over do it. there is a little mild pain for 2 days, but after that....AHH, the relief. of course don't do this on anyone under 21 take them to a podiatrist. and only do this for yourself if there is no pus or swelling.when you have mild ingrown toe pain do it then, go to a dr if it's already swollen, red,or pus.

As some other reviewers wrote, this tool is a little thick to get under your ingrown toenail. I just have a mild ingrown toenail, so for the maintenance of it I think this tool will be fine. If your ingrown toenail is really tender it might hurt a little bit trying to get under it initially.

I have been able to reduce my visits to the podiatrist in half. This is a simple tool to make trimming toenails a breeze, when added to a traditional pedicure set.

There is no way that this implement will fit underneath an ingrown toenail; no way; no how. It will not even fit under a NORMAL toenail or even a fingernail! This product should be taken off the market, IMHO!

I never knew there was a file for ingrown toe nails. This ia a handy tool. It files the nail from the top down to thin the nail then it can be trimmed out. A lot safer than a knife or toe nail sissors that won't cut through a thick nail. I really like it.

I like the Tweezerman product line; this was one of three implements I recently purchased. Each has nice, quality construction, and each has been quite useful to me. I am quite a fan.
