Triumphant Close to Vlad's Story,
By Josh Love (USA) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Twelfth Grade Kills (The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod #5) (Hardcover)
As soon as I read the last page of the book, I cried. I then had to get on Twitter and tell Auntie Heather how much I loved it. The next step was to write a quick review, which is not something I do very often. I am not good with words. I also am not good with keeping spoilers out of reviews. So I will make this review brief and to the point.First off, this is my favorite book in the series. I do find all of the books in the series to be fantastic for their own reasons, but this one was the most beautiful - the most breathtaking for me. I laughed, I cried, I went through so many emotions with this story. I really connected with Vlad from the very first book because I, like Vlad, never really knew my father. 5th being the final book in the Vladimir Tod series, made me very sad. There was a lot of mystery and unanswered questions in the previous books. I believe the author (Auntie Heather) did the most amazing job at answering all those questions - and more in this book. She brought it all together. She brought Vlad full circle. I found it to be very moving. If I had to describe this book in one word - "Triumphant", would be my word. As a bonus, this book really helped me and I am sure other Vlad fans, understand Joss. I won't say anything else about that because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. I am so proud to be a minion. I am so proud of Auntie Heather. I am more than ever looking forward to Auntie Heather's next series!

Brewer KILLS IT again!,
By Jaded_Gal "Prove you're not an idiot, put dow... (The Lovely South!!!) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twelfth Grade Kills (The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod #5) (Hardcover)
I've truly loved the Vladimir Tod series & while anxious to read the final chapter, I'm sad to be saying goodbye to Vlad & Co. The last installment answers questions, breaks your heart & makes you smile.Anyone who hasn't read the Vlad Tod series should do so, especially fans of the "Twilight" series of books. Heather Brewer succeeded where Meyer failed in writing a series based on the supernatural that younger kids (age 8-14) can read that is not so loaded with sexual innuendo & that is still a terribly fun exciting read. Let me say that I loved Twilight, FOR ME, not for my kids to read, ages 7 & 13. Heather Brewer wrote a vampire series that I felt comfortable letting them read while loving it myself. Awesome job! I love the ever so slight "jab" Brewer makes at Twilight, I won't spoil it & will only say it's in the 2nd to 3rd paragraph on page 101. Funny stuff without being insulting, anyone who's read, seen the movies about or heard of Twilight will get that joke. This last book weighs in at 325 pages, although the book description stated only 224, so it's long but anyone who has followed Vlad & his friends this far will make short work of it. I know I did. In short, or rather in long, I'm glad I discovered Heather Brewer & Vlad & I am looking forward to her next book series. Although I must say that the ending is pretty "open" one could say so I'm kind of in doubt as to whether we've heard the last of the last from Vlad. When you guys read it, you decide. All in all a great series, anyone who enjoys this genre will really like Vladimir Tod & they can safely let any younger kids like mine read the series without having to answer so many questions about the "adult-themes" like in other books in this genre. It's a great read for ALL I think. On a side note, I bought a copy via Amazon & when my daughter got worried it wouldn't ship in time sent me to another book store, (B.A.M) to buy a copy the day it came out. For those unaware that "other" store had hosted Brewer at a distribution center having her sign enough copies of Vladimir Tod 5 ensuring ALL of there stored would have about a dozen autographed copies for sale. Luckily, I have one now! So those of u who live close to "that store" you might still try to pop in & see if any are left, it would make a great gift for a die-hard Vlad/Brewer fan. Oh & Happy belated birthday Heather! Vlad 5 was great!

Great Book!!!,

I love this book. It answered all of the lingering questions that I've had. Brewer does a wonderful job of bringing Vladimir's high school years to a close. However, she does leave the door open for possible books covering Vladimir's college years. (I hope she does!!!)

BEST BOOK IN THE SERIES!!!!!,
This review is from: Twelfth Grade Kills #5: The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod (Kindle Edition)
Vlad's just probably witnessed the greatest miracle ever. His dad has been dead for 10 years or has it all been a joke? From page one, it was action to the max!!! Everything in this book is freaking amazing, from the big fight, to getting the biggest enemy ever, and watching everyone perish. The plot in this book is much better than books 1-4... but if you have a younger kid reading this series they shouldn't read this book in particular. There is strong violence and language. I would recommend this book to someone over the age of 12.

Twelfth Grade Kills The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod by Heather Brewer (4 out of 5 stars),
This review is from: Twelfth Grade Kills #5: The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod (Paperback)
Vlad's running out of time. The Elysian Council has given him only weeks to live, and that's if the Slayer Society doesn't kill him -- along with all the citizens of Bathory -- first. Then there's the issue of Vlad's father, who may or may not still be alive after all these years. Oh yeah, and that tiny little detail in the Pravus prophecy about Vlad enslaving Vampirekind and the human race. So much for college applications. In this epic finale to Heather Brewer's heart-stopping Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, dark secrets will be revealed, old friends will become enemies, and warm blood will run cold. Just be careful it isn't yours. Blurb from Barnes and Noble.com 4 out of 5 stars I loved this book! I read it in two days! Although, I can't give away much without revealing what happens, I must say I love the character Snow. This one probably had the most sad parts, as it had my heart at my feet at least five times, and I know I was ready to start crying twice. But the ending closed everything up, but still ended openly, showing that there could be more to it if Heather Brewer wanted to write more. Personally I like those endings. They show that the characters lives don't end when you put the book down. If they were real, that wouldn't be the end. They would still grow up, and do whatever they want. Loved the series, a good and fun vampire read, less serious than some others I've read. Since the new Slayer Chronicles book just came out, I'll try to get that one read sometime too! Great story, HUGE Kindle Edition Errors,

The story was good, a fitting end to Vlad's High School years. I won't go into it much more other than I really enjoyed the story. However the Kindle Edition has MAJOR typo's. My copy had error after error, at one point Joss turns into "Josh" and I had enough. This made the reading choppy and distracting. I have seen errors in other books I have for Kindle but not to this level. I may have been able to find one in other books but not 100's. I don't know who's to blame for this but I won't take a star away from the book as I don't think it's the authors fault. Amazon, did anyone proof the kindle version before it was sent out?

The final book in The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod series picks up where #4 left off; Vlad thinks he's seen his dead father after battling his friend Joss, who happens to be a Slayer sworn to kill Vlad. Vlad's also still going to be put on trial by Elysia for his "crimes" against other vampires and his life is on the line. All in all, things aren't looking too good for our favorite high school vampire senior. Will Vlad be able to recover his father's lost diary in time to use its secret code to exonerate himself? Will Joss find a way not to kill Vlad? Will Vlad ever graduate?Okay, that last question was a bit silly, given all the action packed into #5, but amid everything going on, Vlad still attends school, even if he never expects to graduate. Vlad spends much of this book searching for answers to whether or not he's the Pravus and whether or not his father is indeed still alive (and what that means if he is). It's not a pretty tale, and Vlad's losses are huge. In addition to girlfriend Snow, Vlad's uncle Otis and aunt Nelly are in constant danger, and Vlad's frustration at not being able to stop events fuels much of the action. Recounting the plot would give away too much, so I will say that this is a fitting ending to the quintet, if a disturbing one on many levels. Vlad's got to solve some big problems and he's unsure of where to even begin. While all this is going on, Vlad's dealing with the normal angsts of being a teenager--old loves, new loves, friends, and oh, yeah, a blackmailer. Well, all right, that's not typical, but still...Vlad's got problems. Ms. Brewer does a terrific job of capturing a teen's emotions as she explores his vampiric issues. Rant time: You know how I feel about editors these days, and this book has a few items that should have been caught. Right off the bat (pun intended) on page six, there are two instances of "had drank". Once I could overlook; twice and it's a problem for this reader. It also occurs later in the book so someone should have been paying closer attention. Also, there's an instance where Vlad "slunked" down the hall. Slunk is past tense itself. And yes, I know this is picky, but I care. Someone should. This final book is well written and engaging, if a little rushed toward the end. There are no pretty little bows to tie up everything (and I'd have been disappointed had there been). And that ending? Let's just say I don't think we've seen the last of Vlad. I'll be looking forward to it.
