The book "Twelve angry men" by Reginald Rose is an amazing one, as a matter-of-fact I read it in one sitting. The book is about 12 jurors who are assigned to a case of a 19 year old boy who is accused of stabbing his father in the chest, murdering him. The book is in a play format divided into three scenes. The story takes place in middle of a hot summer day. It begins with these twelve jurors who are placed in a hot room to discuss the verdict of this boy, "guilty" or "not guilty". At first, even before they discuss the case in detail, they take a vote, everyone votes guilty besides for one, juror eight. At first he is all alone, but being that he is a reasonable man, who seeks justice and values a human life, he tries to convince the others that this boy is indeed innocent. At first they think that he's crazy for voting not guilty when all the evidence proves that this boy is guilty.
One fact that the jurors told juror eight was that there is an old man who lives right beneath the apartment where the stabbing took place, and he swore in court that he heard the boy yelling at his father "I will kill you" which was followed by a loud bang, as the father fell to the floor. The old man then said that he ran to the door and just managed to see the boy running down the hall toward the exit of the building, he said that the whole thing took fifteen seconds. Juror eight, however, did not give in so easily. He played out the scene to the other jurors and timed it to see if it was at all possible for the old man to make it from his bedroom, get his two canes and still be by the door of his apartment in fifteen seconds. They timed it, it was thirty one seconds. One more juror, juror nine, was convinced that the boy might not be guilty.

This is a poorly done version of Sergel's "Twelve Angry Men". Both works are the ones license for performance by community theaters and schools, and are drawn from the teleplay by the same name. Don't confuse either with the script for the movie.

In spite of the recommendation to do so by the publishing company, purchase of this work isn't necessary to put on a version called "Twelve Angry Jurors", where the cast is mixed gender.

Does not follow the tv show version we're all familiar with. Not because it's a women's version, it's just way too adapted and gutted.
