Our favorite fairy tale on the shelf!,
By
This review is from: Twelve Dancing Princesses (Paperback)
We have a large collection of fairy tale books on the shelf but this one is our favorite. I can't say that I always love all the books that my daughters request but this one we can agree on. I am not a girly girl and could do without so many princess stories. This one however is beautifully told and is a joy to read aloud. The illustrations are gorgeous. I never tire of looking at them. Whimsical and rich with color and detail. Lush gardens and handsome dancing gowns. The princesses have a fantastic exotic feel to them, not your ordinary milky white skinned fair tale princesses. There was so much wear around the edges of this one that it was first in line to cover with one of the mylar covers I ordered from Brodart. Don't miss out on this Jane Ray illustrated books and be sure to check out the Fairy tale collection she did with Berhlie Doherty which is also well loved in our house.

The REAL 12 Dancing Princesses,

This review is from: Twelve Dancing Princesses (Paperback)
My daughter (age 4) is a big fan of the Barbie movies. I admit, they are surprisingly well-made, but I like to make sure she knows that Barbie did not invent many of those stories, so Santa gave her this book last Xmas. She loves it, and it hasn't diminished her joy in the movie at all, only added to it. The illustrations are lovely.
