When I passed by this book on display at the store I thought, how cute, so I bought it for my mom who is an absolute dog lover. We listened to the CD before we were going to ship it to her. Well my 3 kids and I were roaring with laughter, and we liked it so much that we are keeping her copy. So here I am at amazon to buy her another book and 2-day it to her so she won't have to wait to start enjoying it. The book is well done and the song is upbeat and easy to enjoy. There is nothing nicer to the ear then kids singing. You won't be disappointed with this book even if you don't like dogs.

My review of this book is somewhat prejudice since I am the proud father of the author. Of course I love the book. It has sold over 100,000 copies. The important thing is that it give so much pleasure to everyone who reads it (both adults and children) and has helped many kids to learn and enjoy reading. Emma wrote the book on the back of a paper place mat at a Christmas lunch two years ago and who would have dreamed it would turn out this way. She is now 9 years old and the leading fund raiser among 2 million kids who collect for the American Heart Association. She's also the number one scorer on her 5th grade basketball team (she's tall).Of course I'm proud.

A friend bought this book (which comes with a CD) last Christmas for my daughters (then 2 1/2 yrs and 1 yr). They absolutely love this book! They both sing along to this catchy and humorous version of the 12 Days of Christmas and laugh every time at the surprise ending. I recommend this book highly and am purchasing it for gifts this year. Warning: Be prepared to read it throughout the year! This makes an enjoyable gift for dog lovers of any age!

My daughter has absolutely LOVES this book! So much so, she wouldn't let me put it way in our Christmas box. So far we've been singing/reading this to her since last Christmas. Time & time again she'll go find this book and ask me "read please"! We love the photos of all the dogs and especially the surprise ending!!!! Absolutely delightful book! This young author had a terrific idea in creating this book! It has brought much joy & song into our home! And it's such a cute book that I don't mind reading it all though the year!!!

I used this book while enriching reading skills with spanish speaking first graders. When they listened to the cd they were immediately attracted to the book. We sung the song together and they pointed to the words in the book. I play the cd all the time at home. My Cocker Spaniel and two Jack Russell Terriers also enjoy listening to the cd during the Christmas holiday season. The pictures are very realistic.

This book is exceptional! It should be noted first that The 12 Dogs of Christmas was written by a quite witty 7 year old girl.
My 1 year old loves the contrasting colors of the pages and the CD (included with the book) is infectious-you can't help but sing along! Dancing to the CD each night was part of our nightly holiday routine. Buy this book...you will love it!

Be prepared: you will be hearing this song over and over and over...

The book is adorable. Of course, I am biased, since my basset is in the book. I have taken a copy to the school where I teach. My 4th grade class has loved reading the book and looking at the many different breeds of dogs featured.

First let me inform you that I am the father of the author so I am understandably proud of my daughter and thrilled at the success of the book. It has sold nearly 400,000 copies in the several years it has been out. Wal*Mart carries a line of plush dog toys and sold 196,000 this past (2004) Christmas. Now it's even been made into a movie that will be available on DVD for the holiday season of 2005. Emma wrote the book at 7 and is now 15 and a champion basketball player, equestrian rider and sings with one of America's top children's choirs. By the way there is a karoke version of the song on the CD following the one sung by 25 kids (Emma sings the lead) but it's not mentioned anywhere on the book. Also, the full size hardback copy of the book is great for all but toddlers but is not generally available in stores. Get it on Amazon.com. Charming and entertaining. A great gift book for any time of the year. Funny and cute!
