Book Description

For weddings, for anniversaries, for Valentine's Day, for the day you propose or just to reaffirm your love, these 12 short, accessible love poems were written with committed couples in mind, gay or straight. They are not canned, cliched love poems. Rather, the voice is real, "spilling with light". Stars quiver. The speaker notices the sleeping eye that flutters with dream and the glance that declares a knowing love. The poems ask to forget the workaday world, they ask to remember, they ask for kisses, "the dream I dream has wakened, is alive when you kiss me, so please kiss me. Kiss me. O, never forget to kiss me."

Read alternately by the couple, one to the other, they make beautiful wedding poems for gay marriage ceremonies or straight marriage ceremonies. Your guests will weep with happiness for you.

The poems to read aloud are just okay.
Nothing earth shaking or something that would evoke strong emotions.
Could use the for practice reading aloud, though.

More About the Author

Carol Frome grew up in northern New York, one hour south of Montreal Quebec, on the banks of Lake Champlain, at the foothills of the Adirondacks. She attended a highly unusual experimental elementary and middle school, SUNY-Plattsburgh's Campus School. It is fair to say, without exaggeration, that her friends and teachers there probably saved her life. She was a farm wife for 11 years, had two sons, and finally started college at 27 years old. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and then attended Purdue University where she received her Master's in creative writing and literature. She went on to win The Nation/Discovery award for her poetry and has published in many literary magazines and journals. She is now a damned Yankee spiritual agnostic living in South Carolina with her third husband.
