Terrific for personal or group study!,

We bought this book along with the study guide for my husband to use in leading his Wednesday night Bible study. The book is enjoyable to read and informative, typical MacArthur. The workbook has application questions and is actually rather lengthy. I do wish the book came in paperback to lessen the cost. After perusing it, it seems it will work out great for the Bible study (material is suitable length in each chapter, good questions to guide discussions). My husband said he wished there were a Leader's edition that would have extra notes just for the leader, but the study guide did have some notes for that purpose (just not as much as what he wanted). The book springs from a series of sermons he gave on the subject, so the men are fleshed out and brought to life with plenty of application, rather than just being the run-of-the-mill information that everyone already knows. I think you'll find it very interesting.

We got this for my husband to use in a Bible study he leads. It has LOTS of questions, almost so many you wonder if the people will get through them. They are, of course, very good application questions as would be typical of MacArthur. He wishes there was more info just for the leader or a separate leader's guide to ease preparation, though there are some leader notes in the guide. Overall, very good and highly recommended. Guess he got pampered by another Bible study series we used that came complete with leader's guide and extra info to use! BTW, most of the questions are application oriented and thus have lots of lines to write out your answers and thoughts, hence the number of pages.

GET TO KNOW THEM,

"Christ personally called the Twelve and invested most of His energies in them. He chose them before they chose Him." This paperback is an indepth look at the disciples of Jesus Christ. I found it most entertaining and enlightening, soaking up the characteristics of these men of God. We see how the master shaped His disciples and built up their faith. They were the first persons on earth, who knew what His future held, though not throughly understanding at the time, they yet trusted in Him and His Father's will for the people of the world. He spoke to them in parables and had to be patient with them as they tried to figure Him out. The disciples were by no means scholars, just humble ordinary men, but when Jesus was resurrected and they saw the Light they became bold witnesses for His cause, turning the world upside down............taking the gospel to the ends of the earth for they knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that He held their backs, and had filled them with His Holy Spirit. Highly recommended to Study Groups and Theology courses. Reviewed by Heather Marshall Negahdar 11-10-11 (Haze)

This book is a "can't put downer". It was a good read and while a lot of it is only conjecture it had the ring of truth.

This workbook doesn't ask any question beyond an eighth grade comprehension level. The guys and I were looking for meat and found baby food.
