Snow Angel is Beautiful,
By
This review is from: Twelve Quickies of Christmas Vol. 2 (Paperback)
WHO is Lisa Marie Rice?
WHAT can we do to assist her in writing as many books as quickly as possible? WHEN will her next book come out? WHERE did Ellora's Cave find this awesome author? WHY would anyone believe 26 pages is a sufficient length to describe a fully fleshed out romantic couple? HOW did Ms. Rice author such a beautiful romance that can take you from the depths of despair Nicole feels at the loss of her lover to a sad smile as she relives their love affair? All in 26 pages! I don't know of anyone else who's ever created so much on such a small canvas. "Christmas Angel" the last story in the "12 Quickies of Christmas Volume 2," will not leave the reader with a bitter aftertaste as so many anthologies do. The dreaded question "Was that it?" hangs on the tip of my tongue all too often after I finish one, but not here. Yes, yes, there are 5 other stories in this book and I'm sure those authors gave it their best shot. But let's not kid ourselves here: "Christmas Angel" is the only real reason to buy this book. "Hot for Santa" by Lacey Alexander has some cute, sexy scenes. "A Christmas Phantasie" by Kit Tunstall is by turns weird, frightening and unrealistic (yep, put me right in the holiday spirit! :) "Passion and a Pear Tree" by Tawny Taylor might cause that previously-mentioned bitter aftertaste. "Snow Angel" by Joey Hill has some good moments. The other story is a twist on "The Nutcracker Suite" and is both odd and sexy. Lisa Marie Rice has been compared to Linda Howard, Shannon McKenna and Suzanne Brockmann. Buy this book and if you haven't already experienced Ms. Rice's other books, try: "Midnight Man," "Midnight Run," "Midnight Angel," "Woman on the Run," and "Port of Paradise." You'll be hooked, just like the rest of us.

The Twelve Quickies of Christmas Volume 2,
This review is from: Twelve Quickies of Christmas Vol. 2 (Paperback)
The only thing worth reading was the Lisa Marie Rice short story and it is not her best work. This book was painful. Save your money.

Christmas Angel by Lisa Marie Rice ~ 4.5 stars.
For what this story was, I really liked it. I liked it A LOT better than her contribution in the Secrets: Volume 9 edition. While it was pretty hot and pretty emotional, this was waaay too short. Only 33 pages. I wish it could have been longer. And since I'm wishing, I wish it could have had more time spent with the hero and heroine together. I'm so sad. I have no more Lisa Marie Rice books left to read. I guess I could read the Elizabeth Jennings books I have of hers. This woman needs to stop lazing around the Italian Riviera and get to writing!!! Snow Angel by Joey W. Hill ~ 4 stars First off. I love Joey W. Hill. Her Nature of Desire series can do no wrong with me. This story was shorter than LMR's but it seemed weightier and was much kinkier. This little story has some beautifully described bondage and some playful uses of Christmas ornaments. Hot For Santa by Lacey Alexander ~ 1 star Did not like this one. It was boring and cliche. The presents reminded me of gifts you would find in the 'naughty' section of Spencers and the fact that the dude was packing nine or ten inches had me rolling my eyes. It was a shame that I didn't like this story. I loved her last Christmas story, Unwrapped, but this was was too silly for my tastes. Passion in the Pear Tear by Tawny Taylor ~ 1 star I haven't read a Tawny Taylor book since Dark Master. Now I remember why.

This looks like you are buying the whole anthology, but it is only the Lisa Marie Rice story. I only bought it because I thought I was getting a Joey W Hill story as part of the package. Talk about disappointing!

I like anthologies and read them often. It's usual for me to like some pieces more than others, I expect that, but this was pretty low quality, there wasn't a keeper in the batch for me - which really surprised me because it had authors I've read and liked before. I don't know if it was the theme that didn't inspire them/me but this book didn't work for me.
