I wanted something special for my new Mac, and I found it. This case really does look like an antique book, except it has a zipper where the pages should be. It provides good protection, although I did combine it with a thin clip-on case for protection when I have removed my Mac from the Book Book for ventilation and easier mobility when open (hence 4 stars instead of 5). Unanticipated benefits include disguising the computer - its just not so obvious that there is an expensive computer where there appears to be a book. Also I don'd mind leaving this around the house (like on a coffee table). Instead of looking like clutter, it looks like it belongs.

Do I recommend it? Yes. But please don't get it, because if everyone does then my case's coolness factor will decline.

an awesome look.
People around me asks me whatI'm reading... they don't realize that i have a computer in there. Pretty neat!!! And it does the job on protecting my mac from scratches.

Splurged on this case and so glad I did. It's beautiful and truly does look like a large old book right down to the spine and the worn look. I have a speck see thru case on my 15" mac book pro and it fits snuggly in the Twelve South BookBook. I personally don't use the corner elastic bands as my mac being in the speck case stays put. I don't like the fact these little straps could rub my mac or speck case. Although it doesn't have a carrying strap which you know when you order this item, I don't find that a deal breaker as I don't really carry my mac book anywhere. I purchased this case as a protective way to take the mac book from the house to our RV for travel. I like knowing the mac is in a closed case while in the RV.

If you're looking for a laptop case that's not your normal everyday, look alike cases, then this is worth taking a look at. The price may be a bit expensive but once you see the item you'll understand why. I love the look of it and the quality. I figure the price of the mac justifies the price of this case. It will grab people's attention for sure!

This product resembles an old library book and insulated well to protect my MacBook Pro 15". The dimensions are perfect and can even slide
horizontally on a bookshelf . It may fool you for a book.

I received this today. Visually it is a nice-looking item, however the material is hardly worth the price. Other than the binding this appears to be painted cardboard. I shudder to think what will happen to it if it gets wet from rain or a small spill. I will revisit this later if the initial feel and appearance prove to be misleading, but at this point I'm very disappointed with this product for the price.

I needed to get a sleeve for my 15" mac-pro for travel - spending money on something I will rarely use is not fun. I was wrong. After too much time spent looking for a cover that would protect my laptop well for those times I do need to travel with it that wasn't boring and inadequate, or overpriced and overbuilt for those who travel regularly, I stumbled on the Book-Book by chance. I liked the fact it was different, maybe even fun? My laptop was well protected in my overstuffed carry-on bag while traveling. If the bag was open, it wasn't obvious what it was - nor is it as obvious what it is just setting around my house (though I'm sure that will change over time as these cases become more popular). I'm using it all the time. It was more than I had planned to spend (I just had a neoprene sleeve for my last laptop), but this offered more protection, a touch more security and it makes me smile! I was able to get it more quickly (and a bit less expensively thru Amazon that directly from Book-book). There isn't room for the power cord in the case, but I wasn't expecting it.

After many reviews, I determined a hard shell was not for me due to issues with dust getting between them and my Mac(issues with cell phones in the past), nor did I like the idea of my Mac only being protected while in a neoprene sleeve. This was the solution for me. Paired with a discreet messenger bag I was lucky enough to find, I now have no worries about my Book's protection. Aside from its weathered and faded appearance, the book is very attractive. The red felt interior keeps the Mac cushioned and scratch free so far, while the tan leather lining gives a nice touch. There are two nylon type corner straps to attach the monitor to the book cover, but I've found them to be unnecessary since the BookBook cover prefers to be closed stays relatively close to the Mac's lid stays. Time will only tell if this feature keeps up. I have taken the book out of the case a double of times to check for heat build up but haven't found any problems at all. I must note, I do tend to keep my desktop fairly clean, no more than four or five programs running at a time, but so far, I have had no heat related concerns. I Have referred this product to other Mac and iPad users but recommend finding a case or bag designed for a 17" laptop. Otherwise, you would have to leave your BookBook at home.

This product arrived faster than expected or represented. I opened it and it was VERY well made. and more than what i expected.

It is a very nice case and very original. The covers are hard, the interior is padded. It protects very good my Macbook Pro. It looks as a very old book, a collection book.

I'm very happy with my new "old looking" laptop case from Twelve South. I get a lot of comments when people realise it's not an old book. I was a bit worried when I put my order in that it might not fit, but on arrival it fitted my mac-laptop perfectly. I'd recommend this product to anyone wanting something a little different.
