Many reviewers have correctly noted that while this is a gorgeous, artistic case for the iPad, there is concern that the thin horizontal upper elastic band was likely to be insufficient to hold the iPad in place. Some apparently learned this the hard way when their iPad fell out, hit the ground, and shattered the glass. But, being a previous owner of Sena Cases' ZipBook (see Photo Gallery at [...], the answer became clear. I merely visited my local fabric store, purchased a small blister pack containing 1/2 inch black elastic banding, and had a nearby shoe repair shop sew in two short pieces of that elastic band diagonally across the upper corners of where the iPad would sit for a total charge of $14. Thereafter, the shoe repair shop cut out the stock thin horizontal elastic band, and now the BookBook holds my iPad in place securely. In the future, if I want to use the leather thong to hold the BookBook case in an A-frame way to watch videos, etc., I just move the two elastic bands off the upper corners of the iPad, re-wrap the leather thong as in the video on the BookBook website, and then replace the upper corners of my iPad under the diagonal bands again. This one small change makes the BookBook, for my money, the most beautiful, elegant, and functional iPad case on the market.
