This is a great mount, and like all of the Twelve South products the quality of this construction is un-matched... it holds my ipad2 right where I want it, allows me to press the screen as needed, and even rotates easily for portrait or landscape modes... But!!

I have the 3G iPad2 and after using the hoverbar for about 3 weeks, I have noticed that when I remove my iPad from the mount, and clip it into the mount... the mooting clips leading edge has been chipping away at the black plastic that covers the Antenna on the 3G model....

i recommend that you ensure you pull the clip clear of the iPad before removing or inserting it into the mount.... to clarify I love the product, just noticed this fluke of a design...

Overall, I would say its a good product. I have a carbon fiber clamp arm for my iPad 2, but I when I saw this it seemed like it would be a better solution for suspending my iPad off the desk. It's very sturdy and made from what seems like high quality material. The one drawback I noticed while mounting to the back of my 27" Thunderbolt Display was that, when mounted on the left viewing side (the screen's right) the arm that screws into the base would loosen at the base since the pressure from holding the iPad's weight was enough to essentially unscrew the arm from the base. In the end, I just mounted it on the other side. Problem solved. That, and the fact that it is a little difficult to adjust since the arm has so much resistance docked it a star.

Unlike many iPad accessories, ones that say they are for the iPad 2 and work fine on the newest iPad (March 2012), the bracket that clamps onto the iPad doesn't work with the newest iPad. I think the thickness of the new iPad is just a few millimeters bigger than the clamp can snap to.

Also, although the goose-neck bar feels stiff, slowly over time, it starts to droop. Again, maybe this is because of the extra weight of the newest iPad.

The quality is excellent, and it is always a really nice touch when the packaging is high-quality. I think it is mainly my fault for assuming that this version would work perfectly for the newest iPad.

I would recommend to Twelve South, that they update their product description warning iPad 3 owners that this won't work well with this newest version...and that maybe an iPad 3 version is coming soon or something.

BTW, I also own the Twelve South BookBook iPhone/wallet. I love it, and I get comments about it all the time. I highly recommend this.
