About the Author

Marci Alborghetti is an internationally published writer whose books include The Christmas Story, The Miracle of the Myrrh, Freedom from Fear: Overcoming Anxiety through Faith, and A Season in the South. Marci is a contributor to Daily Guideposts and the Chicken Soup publications. She lives with her husband, Charles Duffy in New London, Connecticut.

More About the Author

Marci Alborghetti has been writing only slightly longer than she's been reading. In seventh grade she received her first writing prize for a zany Halloween story. The prize? A five dollar gift certificate to a local book store. She was hooked. The Christmas Glass was her fifteenth book. The Christmas Glass has also gone international. It was published in 2010 in Norway by publisher and TV personality Arve Juritzen's company, Juritzen Forlag, located in Oslo. Marci's most recent book is A Willing Heart, published by Ave Marie Press in Notre Dame, Indiana. Her next book, The American Prayer Book, will be released this Spring by Catholic Book Publishing. She and her husband Charlie Duffy live in New London, Connecticut and the San Francisco Bay area. While in New London she facilitates the St. James Literary Club.

Equal parts informational, inspirational and encouraging is this new book by Marci Alborghetti. 12 Strong Women of God offers twelve first person narratives of biblical models, some better known than others. Alborghetti has the ability to infuse these women with life, turning each into an example of strength and courage.

Each chapter concludes with an "active meditation" passage, as well as a series of reflection/discussion questions. The book would make a fascinating resources for group study, prompting excellent discussions. Timely and thought provoking topics such as war and its causes and consequences, prayer life, family relations and more are covered. The book would also be excellent for any individual looking to deepen his or her own Biblical knowledge and personal prayer life. Thank you to Marci Alborghetti for this resource - educational and encouraging!

This book was purchased for use with a newly formed women's group at our church. I facilitate the group. It was awesome how in the twelve chapters at least one women felt a direct connection between her life experiences and the lives of the women written about. Everyone enjoyed it and spoke out side of the group about it.

I was lucky to have found this and it has made my church group a great success from the get go!

The first person narrative is truly wonderful. Thank you, Marci.

Looking for a book for your women's Bible study? Look no further. "12 Strong Women of God" which focuses on Biblical women of the Old Testament, and "The Jesus Women," which focuses on the New Testament, will provide much inspiration and food for thought and discussion. Marci Alborghetti creates a compelling portrait of each of these women. Where the Biblical record is more comprehensive, such as with Ruth or Esther, she sticks very closely to that record. Where the details of these women's lives are more elusive, Alborghetti uses more imagination, but nevertheless remains faithful to what is in the Bible. Her first-person narratives place the reader directly into the story and invite the reader into a personal relationship with each of these women. Her portraits of "The Samaritan Woman," "The Canaanite Woman," and "The Adulteress" in "The Jesus Women" are particularly riveting.

Alborghetti also includes a set of probing discussion questions at the end of each woman's story. These questions allow for reflection on that particular woman and the lessons she has to teach us today.
