Fantastic survey of everything a reasonably well educated American should know about American art history. Well written and superbly chosen examples of every major art movement of the 20th century

Fantastic American art book,
By Alyssa (Tennessee) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twentieth-Century American Art (Oxford History of Art) (Paperback)
I had to buy this book for a class a couple years back, took the class, sold the book back and then realized a few weeks ago that I really missed the book. I find this book to be very interesting and the variety of information is great. I would recommend this to anyone out there studying American art and it's movements.

i needed this for an art class studying contemporary artists. the price is great for those who want to avoid purchasing expensive textbooks at school. the book itself is a great reference if you're a fine art student.

I was mislead into believing that this was a history of twentieth century American Art, when in fact it is a political rant by the author, Erika Doss. Her polemic is the same old delusional diatribe; America is evil, and all the usual groups of "victims" have had to suffer living here in the land of the evil white conservative Christians. Give me a break...or rather, give me what I paid for; a history of twentieth century American Art, NOT a political re-education. I cut some of the illustrations from this book and placed the remainder in the trash. Don't waste your time or money.
