Folk You - (see what I did there?),
By "firetrial5" (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twenty Eight Orange Street (Audio CD)
The witty wordplay and explosive energy of this amazing band are just two of the things that make them a sound to behold. "28 Orange Street" is a taste of where the band came from, so don't let the production of a few of the tracks fool you. The cd is wicked entertaining. When you hear "Oklahoma", "What We Have Now", and "The First Time", relish the good life. When you so craftily root out the hidden track at 15:50 of the last track, laugh at the random craziness that is Adam Busch ranting about what it means to be an artist. But most important, when you hear this cd, get yourself to a live show ASAP. You will be blown away by these outstanding performers and the quality of the shows they put on. I guarantee you will love this band. You will. And if by some freakish twist of fate you don't want to catch a live show and become a Common Ro fan for life after listening to it, then feel free to find me on the street and I will buy you coffee AND give you your money back, baby. But I'm telling you it won't happen.

A great debut but you should see them live!,
By ironclad otter (Oregon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twenty Eight Orange Street (Audio CD)
This is a great debut album; I listened to this record for three weeks straight without getting tired of it. Common Rotation is an amazing band, and their style embraces a wide mix of genres. Unfortunately "28 Orange Street" doesn't, in my opinion, represent the band as they are today; they're a constantly evolving exercise in musical magic, and anybody who likes the sound ought to catch them live. The stuff they play live and are producing today (their new album is due out any time now; they're producing it with a couple of They Might Be Giants guys) blows Orange Street out of the water, but that doesn't diminish the fact that "28 Orange Street" is a fantastic album. I often rotate the records I keep in my car and listen to at work, but this is one that never leaves my CD wallet. The only song I'm not very crazy about is "Rock Star"; my favorites on this album are "Burgandy", "The Crowd and I", "Dancer", and "The First Time", but really all of the songs are great. And make sure you check out the hidden track after "Dancer"... it's one of Adam Busch's mid-show riffs and it's HILARIOUS. Seriously, check these guys out, because you're going to be hearing more about them real soon.

Common Rotation Rules!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Twenty Eight Orange Street (Audio CD)
I basically bought the CD cos 'Warren' from Buffy is in the band but after listening to it I realised how talented Adam Busch (Warren) really is. Common Rotation are alot like The Barenaked Ladies but with their own witty twist. Once this album gets in your CD player, it'll never leave!!! Personal favs are 'Rockstar' and 'Oklahoma' but there is some witty Busch dialogue, about 15 minutes after the last track! Enjoy!
