After I bought Captain & Tennille's new CD, I really didn't know what to expect,because the suspense was so great due to the fact that they hadn't recorded an album in over twenty years. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised and most of all, I commend Toni Tennille for such good writing abilities, "Love Survives" is a complete winner, she wrote it, sings it, and people absolutely cherish her versatility and on-stage presence.

When I first heard "Love Survives" on the Regis and Kathi Lee show, I had to run out and buy me a copy immediately, it was absolutely the best song that I think Toni ever wrote,she put so much feeling and emotion into and it will most certainly, without a doubt become a hit especially in the minds of us "Captain and Tennille" fans. The album is a lushly sounding remix of some of the older tunes that were once on top of the charts and now Toni's voice sound more sexy and alluring than ever, she just improves and mellows with age. "20 Years of Romance" is a must get CD and I think all Captain and Tennille lovers will agree, the one thing I miss the most are the re-runs of the Captain & Tennille variety show, I think someone should petition to get that show back on a cable channel, they are certainly worth watching and relishing over. t

Twenty Years of Romance finds Toni Tennille sounding better than ever. Some of the old C&T standards are re-done, and there are other "romantic" songs from other artists given a new look by Daryl and Toni. The arrangements are pretty basic, but complement Toni's powerful voice - Love Survives is an especially strong song suited to Toni's contralto. Great to hear from Captain and Tennille again!

If you are looking for a compilation CD of the old hits, this isn't it. These are their songs redone along with "standards" Toni's voice is gone in my opinion. This is for people who liked their Vegas show.

would you expect anything less from this duo. Captain and Tennille are not just another fly by night one hit wonder group. They have had more than 10 top ten singles and have sold close to 25 million albums. Problem is these days if your not Mariah Carey or the Backstreet Boys you just wont be excepted in pop music today. With 20 Years of Romance the Captain and Tennille gave us the best of both worlds. The gave us some new versions of their previous hits and of some of their personal favorite songs over the last 20 years and they threw in a couple of new tracks written by Toni. If anything it is a well produced album and Toni's voice is worthy of a Grammy but of course they'll give it to Britney spears. Bet we don't know where Britney Spears is gonna be in 2 years but I can assure you that Captain and Tennille are always going to have a place in pop music history.Keep rockin guys and how bout a new album for 2000. russ from Chicago russ27@hotmail.com

This album is a welcome addition to the collection of any Captain and Tennille fan. The production is pretty bare bones though. Toni's voice though, is in great shape, and at times better than in her heydey. It has gained an earthy and confident edge, if it sometimes lacks her earlier subtlety. I think the album features the sound that could only be heard while listening to C & T live in the past. Where are "Shop Around" and "Lonely Nights"? I guess they didn't fit the theme.

Please Toni and Daryl, put out another CD soon. A longtime fan.

I have enjoyed this couple's music for years & "Twenty Years of Romance" didn't let me down. The updated versions of their old songs were refreshing and long awaited. Their new song "Love Survives" was very uplifting and filled with that rare passion for music which Toni delivers so well. Toni's voice still has the magic to touch your soul & the Captain's musical talents have never shined as bright as on this albumn. I recommend "Twenty Years of Romance" to all that enjoy quality music.

This is a great CD for a long time fan that was singing with his hair brush at age 8 this was a nice return. The production is no frills but who needs that with Toni's voice. The new cut Love will Survive is an anthem worthy of Celine Dion. Tennille voice is in perfect shape and hits it everytime the vocal here is tremendous. The feel of New Orleans Jazz on Nobody Does it Better is welcome and sets you to toe tapping. The Way I Want to Touch YOU and You Never Done it.. are updated just enough to make these two pop radio hits more sophisticated and rich sounding! LOve the record and the talent of these two have since was I was a babe. Now we just need the Song of Joy album reissued!!

Like the Carpenters, I believe The Captain & Tennille are one of those groups in your CD collection you'd never admit to having. I saw them live one time and was blown away by their talent. One thing that surprised me was a number they did, totally instrumental, called "Love Song For Daddy" I believe. I wish they would have recorded it..and if one of them is reading this, then how come? I think it would change your mind, if you didn't know already, how talented these two really are. "Come in from the Rain" is probably my favorite of their recorded songs.
