Twilight... meet TwiLite
on September 12, 2009
I read Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, and, while I enjoyed it and found it rather addicting, I am not blind to its overt adolescence, which was a time I gladly left as soon as I could. I still enjoy the book, but I skim over the let's-bludgeon-ourselves-with-Edward-Cullen's-perfect-eyelids nonsense and Bella's incapability-of-true-independence/autonomy-from-a-male-lead-and-lack-of-a-healthy-sense-of-self-worth craziness.
TwiLite is entertaining in that it does make a joke out of the teen angst so prevalent in Twilight, though I can't read too much of it at one time, as it does become a bit more redundant than Twilight. If you like a semi-decent parody, I think this is a good book to read over a six-month period - that way you can't get too sick of it.
