Walking through the airport, Zara Sutcliffe, top-notch literary agent, is exhausted and wondering what has happened with her twin sister and the sale of their mother's movie prop ray gun. Zara had negotiated a two million dollar deal with Mac Byrne for an unidentified collector, but Zara was in Australia so Emma had to go in her place. Special agent Logan Pierce quickly identifies himself to Zara and hustles her to a safe house presumably for her own protection. Zara is wary of this man with the golden eyes who's not wearing a three piece suit like FBI agents are supposed to wear. He answers her questions with minimal information, which frustrates Zara. Logan treats her well enough, and he gradually discovers that Zara is not exactly the shark the media has made her out to be. Zara wheedles a key from Logan and promises never to leave the safe house without him, but she can't stand the tedium anymore. She goes outside to call Emma's house and gets the machine, so Zara leaves a message, but then decides to go to Emma's anyway. As she's looking around, 'Logan' enters the house and Zara gets the surprise of her life, which is just about to come to an end as her worst nightmare begins. Logan called Emma's place and heard Zara's message, so he goes there, and is horrified at what is happening. When Zara opens her eyes, she is terrified of him. Logan tells her the truth, and fumbles an apology. He realizes that somehow she has become important to him, and Zara realizes that he chose to save her life instead of capturing the criminal. Logan finds out that Emma is in New York. The stakes are higher now because Emma has been kidnapped too. Logan is determined to end this once and for all and after some scouting around, he learns where they are being held. Logan tries to leave Zara behind-tied up-when he confronts the killer, but Zara manages to show up at a most crucial moment, adding to a thrilling climax! These identical twin authors not only look alike, but their writing is identical too. Twice The Spice and Twice Burned read as though they were written by the same person, which makes the continuity of style and form flow evenly. And I couldn't have asked for a better ending!A sensational suspense! So well written, you can feel the tension!
