at home, connected to wi-fi, this is a great app with a lot of useful features. however, when shopping with my kindle fire, the shopping cart feature doesn't work, AND I discovered today that it doesn't even remember which items I've checked off after it goes to sleep. this makes it almost useless to me. At the very least, frustrating.

I cant see all my national stores and some of the ones I can, have no info. there is no way to search for an item and you cant see the size of the product, so if your ad matching at walmsrt, you still need to look at a physical ad to be sure. sometimes it doesn't load properly and I have to relaunch it.

I did not like this app. It took entirely too long to load. I am trying to make grocery shopping LESS stressful.

I went out grocery shopping, everytime my kindle switched from portrait to landscape view all of my checked items became unchecked. also if you create your list with multiple stores in order to take advantage of different special, this app becomes useless if you don't have Internet connection... I found myself not knowing what I was going to buy in what store! the special comparison work well.

If using on kindle fire, the app doesn't work in the store. you must have wifi access in order to use multiple lists. disappointed. glad it was a free app.

This is a terrific app if you're out shopping without a list. The only drawback is that if you don't have access to a hotspot then the app doesn't have the ability to do everything that it can. I have it loaded on my phone as well as my tablets. Since my phone will function as a hotspot I can use all of the features the app offers.

So I download and use this program once and find it to be kind of neat. I could find a few things on sale and seemed like it would help. I go to use it a few days later and there are lists I don't recognize. I think the program defaults so I check the zip code. A zip code I don't recognize so I change it. I don't know what made me look in account settings but glad I did. Someone else's email address! and visible password!! WT?? So I poke around some more and look at Terms page. I am "logged in" as someone else's user name I have never seen (of course never used) in my life. What is going on? Let me stress, I am the only one that uses my kindle, there is no one in my house that could have created this elaborate username, let alone created an gmail account for this program (maybe my 2 1/2 year old is a genius, but I doubt it)

I can only guess that the password for this is probably a password this person uses for a lot of things - like most people. So now I have an email, username and password for someone I don't know. This seems really really bad.

I deleted this program...use at your own risk. I also emailed the company.

The graphics are nice and the app's intentional purpose is awesome - AT HOME! Unfotunately, my Kindle Fire HD does not have 3- or 4-G capabilities, only WiFi. When I took my kindle to the grocery store and was so anxious to see if all the work I'd done to prepare was as awesome as I'd anticipated, I got the message that I needed to connect to the internet. Really? So either these app developers need to edit the app so it works offline OR grocery stores will have to offer free internet access. Until then, I know I can't use it.

This app was not what I expected, I was trying to get the Safeway app to load and ended up with this one.

I will be removing this app from my account as soon as I finish my review. I found that there were too many things that you can't do with this free version of the app and what you can do is just not that much. If you do not have wireless in the grocery store, you can not access anything you have on the app. You can test this by turning your wireless off on your Kindle and opening this app.

I tested the free 1.1.3 version of grocery pal on my Kindle Fire HD.
I will be removing this app from my account as soon as I finish my review. I found that there were too many things that you can't do with this free version of the app and what you can do is just not that much.

Pros and why I don't think the pros are not that great:

1. You can click the coupon link and select coupons to print. However, to print them you have to email them to yourself and print them from a computer with a printer. This worked and I printed them from my desktop. Since I need to use my desktop and these are the same coupons available at coupons.com, I don't really need this app for selecting coupons. I could never find a way to add items to my shopping list from the coupon section.

2. The specials icon shows you specials(sale items) for a number of stores. You select the store and the app shows you a number of categories. You have to click each gategory, e.g. bakery, and go through the list of bakery items to see what is on sale in the bakery. Then you have to get back to the category screen and select the next category to see the sale items there. I guess this is ok if I just want to see if bread is on sale or if milk in the dairy category is on sale but if I want to see what all is on sale in a certain store this is not as easy as looking at either the stores sales ad via either their web site or a paper ad. Since I'll be at my desktop to print my coupons, I might as well check at the online sale adds there too. OK, just taking a quick look to see if milk is on sale at Kroger and their price is easy with this app provided you are where you have wireless access but that just isn't enough for me to keep it on my Kindle.

3. I was able to add items in specials to my shopping list directly from the product decription/sales page and it did add the cost of the item also. For non-special items you'll have to enter the price. It is good that the app totals up the prices in your shopping list but not if you have to enter all of the prices for items that are not from the specials section.

Cons.
If you do not have wireless access, the dog just ate your homework.
There is no price comparison feature.
On the specials sections, some things were in strange categories like spray paint in the bakery, etc.

Other info: I don't take my Kindle through the grocery store or at least no yet anyway. I do keep ongoing shopping list and if I decide I want to take my Kindle shopping I want to be able to see my list. Although I could not see my grocery pal list with my wireless turned off, I could see my shopping list that I had done on evernote. I really just want one note/list app and this free Grocery Pal does not offer enough useable features for me to feel that I need it. I'll be keeping my shopping list on everynote and using their checklist feature.
