4.0 out of 5 stars Noisy Blast of Evil February 24, 2007
Format:Audio CD
Not a shabby tune in the bunch. The opening track is on the verge of white noise and then goes into some insane mixed vocals-- very nice track.

The overall sound is pretty raw, noisy, and weaves in and out of slow, gloomy sludge into blazing grind. Very brutal album, worthy of your hard earned cash...

5.0 out of 5 stars Evil Masterwork July 24, 2004
Format:Audio CD
Make no mistake, Twilight is a great piece of music and a masterwork. A combination of furious guitars, keen drumming, violent vocals (provided by the great Ghaal) and sometimes odd effects, industrial noises, and a keyboard piece make this a truely black and evil album.

Though some may say it makes little ground compared to Destroyer or Incipit Satan, this album is more together than the others. While Destroyer is all over the place, and Incipit Satan goes from great to mediocre, Twilight is a refined and finished piece from start to finish.

4.0 out of 5 stars TRUE BM August 12, 2003
By Roland
Format:Audio CD
Almost every comment i've heard about this band is that it is 'true' norwegian black metal. Of course it's a good sign that 'bands like this' include satyricon emperor and darkthrone, cause this is definitely in that vein. And i don't think all BM fans will ever agree on any one thing, but i would say this is, in fact, TRUE black metal, this is good stuff. Even showing off how idiotic the world is because they censored the cover (which you'll see WHEN you get it), and its more brutal than darkthrone or satyricon, but has moments where you could be listening to either of those. This is worth buying easily if you're into : darkthrone, satyricon, emperor, genocide kommando, marduk, all the best basically, and if i seem kinda luke-warm about the cd with only 4 stars, i'm just saving 5 for legendary, this is a healthy 'classic', and even better than i expected it to be, as a last word, dont let a priest hear the last minute or so of the first song...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff.... January 24, 2011
Format:Audio CD
I alway's hesitated on purchasing Gorgoroth CD's because they all tend to sound the same, but "Twilight..." is something different. This release is possibly one my top 3 "Black Metal" CD's I have ever listened to. It has it all speed, grooves (?), and comes across very listenable. Love it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Black Metal Has A Different Name July 17, 2006
Format:Audio CD
I bought this album when i was in the 8th grade. This was the First GORGOROTH album that i bought since i wanted to try a different band to see if they were any good The cover to this album was the best cover i ever saw and i didn't care if it offened anyone.I listened to the whole album and It blew me away.

Gaahl's vocals sounded way different from other black metal vocalists but were good,The guitars by INFERNUS were really good and had a decent sound to them,King's bass was really good but was a little heavier than the guitars.

The songs I really liked on this album were Force's Of Satan Storms,Of Ice And Movement...,Teeth Grinding and Procreating Satan.every fan of black metal should own this album.DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT THE RELIGOUS PEOPLE SAY ABOUT BLACK METAL.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard one to rate. June 19, 2007
Format:Audio CD
Overall this CD was average. The LP begins with the track "Procreating Satan". This is an extraordinary track that immediately hurls you into another world full of thriving malevolence and hypnotic vocal screaming that provokes your wicked inner fantasies to surface themselves for but only a minute until the song draws its climatic conclusion. This track is truly amazing.

Then we have the second track, "Proclaiming Mercy-Damaging Instinct of Man" which is pretty heavy and well-executed. The only problem I had with it is that it gets a bit repetitious. It was good, nonetheless.

The next track on the list is "Exit-Through Carved Stones". This song is definitely more on the mediocre side. The vocal lines are a little awkwardly arranged also, for every line or two an instrumental break is issued- and then the same words are repeated after the instrumental break has finished. The song is also a bit drawn out. This track definitely gives off a great feel to it, though, despite the flaws in lyrical composition and length. It almost makes you feel as if you are standing in the midst of an open cemetery, your leg submerged by fog, while above you there is nothing but a completely gray colored sky. I give them props for creating such a wonderful atmosphere.

The next song on the track listing is "Teeth Grinding". For the most part, I really dislike this song. Throughout the entire thing, Gaahl only speaks different lines...and it sounds as if he is attempting to make his voice sound deeper for a bunch of vulnerable kindergarteners sitting around him in a circle, waiting for him to finish reading a "scary" Halloween story.

Following "Teeth Grinding" there is "Forces of Satan Storms". This track is pretty good in all.
