4.0 out of 5 stars Did not want to put it down
After reading Lessons, I was looking forward to anoth Kim Pritekel book. I was not disappointed. Great story, solid character development with real characters that have flaws, wonderful dialogue and good pacing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well, not exactly spot on... but not bad either.
I have read several books in the lesbian fiction genre over the past few weeks. In particular I have read two books by Lynn Galli, and most recently Twilight by Kim Pritekel. Not sure Twilight is all that.

I thought the plot was interesting enough... a celebrity tries to drown herself and is saved by a local nurse. It's believable enough that the two women...

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Contribution From Pritekel, April 20, 2008

START OF BACK COVER TEXT - Christine Grey, one of the greatest musical talents of her generation, has money, success, an army of doting fans, yet has never felt more alone. About to drown in a life of pain, secrets and excess; Chris jumps into a river to complete the drowning.

Willow Bowman, a nurse and happily married woman, has a life filled with love and security. Driving up to a bridge in time to see someone jump, Willow becomes an unlikely hero.

The events of this one night cause each to self-reflect, changing both of their lives forever.

Twilight is a book of discover, of love. - END OF BACK COVER TEXT

This reader always enjoys a story by Kim Pritekel. I've read all of her published books and all of her online stories (at least those I've found). Her writing is generally good for a good dose of angst and frustration, both elements of a real winner.

Imagine being saved from suicide by a clown. That's exactly what happens to Christine Grey - a successful recording star who has had enough. The clown is Willow Bowman - a nurse who picks up extra cash at birthday parties with her outrageous persona. After saving the musician, Willow takes a personal interest in her recovery and the two become friends. As their relationship develops, the nurse questions her deteriorating relationship with her husband and her confusing new feelings toward this woman. At the same time, Chris begins to question if Willow is what has been missing from her life.

Not only is this story well told, it has a myriad of different levels and dimensions. There is no doubt this one will be a permanent addition to my personal collection. Do yourself a favor and give it a shot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Story, May 26, 2008
This review is from: Twilight (Paperback)
After reading Lessons I looked forwarding to more works from this author. I was not disappointed with this book. Very good character development and the story was excellent. The author did a fantastic job in developing the story. I could not put it down.

A desperate woman believes she would be better off dead. In an attempt to commit suicide she jumps off a bridge only to be saved by a woman (dressed in a clowns costume) who happens to be a nurse. The bond of friendship grows stronger everyday. Their need for one another gets so intense each has to question what they will do next.

There lives will never be the same.....

Thanks Kim, excellent book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Well, not exactly spot on... but not bad either., December 6, 2008

It's believable enough that the two women would form a close friendship, but the author lost me after that.

The two main characters, Christine and Willow, become fast "friends", and... well that's just it. The author ignores this huge pink elephant in the room for over 200 pages. The book is a contemporary setting, the two women don't live in a vacuum, and yet the author expects us to believe both women are oblivious to the fact best friends don't "touch" like that. There, I said it.

I just didn't buy the way the relationship developed, and for that I was disappointed. What I will say for Pritekel, is she really believes in character development. Which makes the "elephant" that much more annoying because you don't get why these two intelligent - one very worldly - women don't realize they have gone beyond the intimacy of a friendship, and are in love with each other.

I have read all of Kim Pritekel's books, and they get better and better. I could not put this book down. The characters were well developed and very believable, and the story lines kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. I am looking forward to her next work.

Pritekel did an excellent job with this novel. She put her soul into the details--elaborate characters and real-life settings will satisfy readers of all backgrounds and experiences. This is a romance to read over and over again. After experiencing Lessons and Twilight, I'm a Pritekel fan for life!

I read Lessons by Kim Pritekel and loved the book, so I had high hopes for this book. This book is forgettable. There was nothing that made this book special for me. The characters were childish, flat, and poorly written. I liked them at the start, but cared less and less for them as the novel progressed.
