Many people's idea of a nightmare...a possibility of being 'coming round' in your coffin!! The noises that some people have heard after Sally Donaldson's burial seem to indicate that as a possibility. Kate, a journalist for the local paper takes an interest and 'plays detective' throughout the book. It was a good angle and made an interesting change from police procedurals. The chapters alternate between 1966 and the subsequent years and 1991 when Sally died. This style, whilst also giving the reader some background history, succeeds in keeping up the momentum until the stories blend together and from then on the pace quickens right up until the end.
Loved the ending! :)

Peter James is the author of several very successful thrillers, two of which have been made into successful TV films. More are in production now. He was born in 1948 and educated at Charterhouse. He lives in Sussex near Lewes. Ross Ransom is at the top of his profession as a plastic surgeon. Life is good and he wants for nothing. But when his wife falls ill, she decides that she will have nothing to do with conventional medicine in any shape or form and she also wants out of a marriage that for her is going nowhere. It seems that her illness has clarified her senses. She seeks help with her health from a charismatic therapist, who promises a great deal more than medical salvation. But if Ross Ransom can't have his wife, then no man can . . .
