Book Description

August 19, 2010 Twilight Reign 4
Continuing the powerful epic that started with THE STORMCALLER; the Lord Isak is dead, his armies and entire tribe in disarray. It falls to King Emin to continue the war alone, and the Menin are only too happy to meet his challenge. In Byora, Ruhen is developing his 'Saviour' persona. The Harlequins start preaching in his name and many of the pilgrims who flock to him are recruited to be 'Children', disciples who spread Ruhen's message. All over the Land people are starting to see Ruhen as the answer to their troubles. A showdown is coming: battle lines are finally drawn and the atrocities quickly mount. The spectre of the Great War looms, but in this age the Gods cannot and will not come to King Emin's aid. With the peoples of the Land turning against Emin and his few remaining allies, their only chance for survival lies in the hands of a dead man.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

The furious and costly battle for the Land progresses in the ongoing Twilight Reign series. King Emin continues to chip away at the massive forces Kastan Syrax throws at him, even as he puzzles at how to defeat the Land's nearly indestructible champion. Count Vesna, who has been imbued with the Aspect of the God of War, finds himself fighting Lord Isak's war without the backing of his Duke, his followers, or even his beloved Tila. Meanwhile, the shadowy presence of the Azaer continues to grow. Lloyd pushes the confrontation between good and evil towards its impending climax through a violent haze of continual battle as well as subtle, almost maddeningly obscure hints of the transformation set to take place in the Land. Though at times confusing, fans of the series will enjoy the penultimate installment.

More About the Author

Tom Lloyd was born in 1979 in Berkshire. After a degree in International Relations he went straight into publishing where he still works. He never received the memo about suitable jobs for writers and consequently has never been a kitchen-hand, hospital porter, pigeon hunter, or secret agent. He lives in Oxford, isn't one of those authors who gives a damn about the history of the font used in his books and only believes in forms of exercise that allow him to hit something. 5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, June 12, 2011
Lloyd has done an amazing job here. Other than Book 2, which for me was only okay, this series has been one of the most enjoyable reads I've ever had. Sanderson has turned around the Wheel of Time saga and the final book in that series is what I now most want to read, followed immediately by the last book in the Twilight Reign. Lots of powerful characters that make the story without overwhelming it.

The series is awesome. If I had any complaints it is simply having to wait a couple years for my next fix. Love the book and its entire series
