4.0 out of 5 stars Too short a series, December 15, 2008
This review is from: Twilight Rising, Serpent's Dream (Hardcover)
I used to be married to Diana Marcellas and read the first two Witch of Two Suns novels in draft form for her. Unfortunately, there won't be more books in this series, since Tor Books gave her only a three-book purchase. It's sad to see Tor dropping the work of such a talented author, someone of the caliber of Andre Norton, Mercedes Lackey and Ursula K. LeGuin. If you want more books in this series, send lots of emails to Tor Books. And if you wish to know more about Diana, check out her Tor page on the Tor website. Finally, Diana has written great scifi books as Paula E. Downing, P.K. McAllister and Paula King. Her characters in her scifi work are just as good as in her fantasy work! Tom Jackson King (aka T. Jackson King).

5.0 out of 5 stars A wondeful yet, unfinished end, December 1, 2004
This review is from: Twilight Rising, Serpent's Dream (Hardcover)
Diana's newest installment and doesnt lack in the intrigue and adventure she's given in the past two novels. You literally can't put this book down. I read it in 3 days. This book has one drawback in it and im still trying to figure this out. I thought the series was only to be a trilogy but it seems that, at least i hope, Diana has changed her mind. The tale is left off unfinished with many things unresolved like how Brierly is the Keystone....what happens at the Coming and how does Sarya take Brierly's pregnancy and all. I hope there is another one to come because if not, the ending is a total bust and if that is what happens, then why was the series worth reading to begin with?

5.0 out of 5 stars Wishing for the next, July 18, 2006
Diana Marcellas Twilight Rising, Serpent's Dream (along with the other books in the series) has to be one of my favorites. I love Marcellas rich writing style, she makes you really see the world she has created. The characters to all have their own personalities, gifts and flaws that give you a very good sense of who they are.
I devoured this book and after reading it immediately when in search of an upcoming 4th one. Unfortunately I heard that Tor has put them indefinably on hold because they weren't selling well. I also read something about them having the rights to them so she couldn't publish it with some one else, thought I'm not as sure about that.
I really hope I can see the 4th book on the shelves some time soon!
One thing about this book that I didn't like so much was that not all that much seemed to happen. I kept waiting for that inevitable war to start, or some thing along those lines. So wish more had happened in this book, it seemed to be building up to the next one.
I did love the main characters fierce protectiveness of her unborn child and adopted apprentice. This is one of those books that draws you in and keeps you there until the very end. I love the world this author has created and the glimpses of the past she gives us. It shows us how these two people sharing the same land came to were they are now.
All in all this was a great book with rich texture, and wonderful language. I highly recommend it to any fantasy lovers!
