4.0 out of 5 stars The classic "Twilight Zone" script by Richard Matheson, July 4, 2001
This review is from: The Twilight Zone: The Invaders the Television Script (Paperback)
This is Richard Matheson's script for "The Invaders," the classic episode of "The Twilight Zone," which originally aired on January 27, 1961. This is the one where Agnes Moorehead played a Woman who hears a strange sound on her roof and when she investigates she discovers a miniature flying saucer from which two tiny, robot-like creatures emerge. What follows is a battle between the tiny invaders with their ray gun and the Woman with her knife and ax. What made this episode (and script) so interesting was that the Woman has no dialogue. The story is that Moorehead was sent the script she could not find her part because she kept looking for dialogue. Matheson was not pleased with the episode, finding it slow-moving in contrast to his script, which has twice as much going on. Equally important, the original script only gives us quick glimpses of the title beings, so it is much more atmospheric. Read the script, re-watch the television episode, and decide for yourself.
