More About the Author

David Robbins is an American author who has had, to date, about three hundred books published, both fiction and non-fiction. He is a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Horror Writers of America, and Western Writers of America. Robbins has written under nine different pen names.
Under his own name he is best known for ENDWORLD, a science fiction series with a post-apocalyptic setting. The first ENDWORLD came out in 1986, the most recent in 2009. He has also written a spin-off series called BLADE.
As David Thompson he has been writing the popular WILDERNESS series for nineteen years. Published by Leisure Books, the series is still selling strong. New books come out quarterly.
Robbins has written a number of horror books under his own name, along with THE RETURN OF THE VIRGINIAN, a sequel to Owen Wister's masterpiece, and others.
As J.D. Cameron he wrote most of the OMEGA SUB series.
As Jake McMasters, Robbins did the WHITE APACHE series.
As David Thompson again, he wrote a series on Davy Crockett.
Additionally, Robbins has had over a dozen books published under the Ralph Compton banner.
Among his non-fiction works is a history of the Druge Enforcement Agency,
entitled HEAVY TRAFFIC.
He has also contributed to both THE TRAILSMAN and THE EXECUTIONER series.

I enjoyed this book and I am continuing on to read the next book in the series. It is the continuation of Blade and his Alpha Triad's journey after their last attempt to reach the Twin Cities was cut short in The Fox Run. This book takes the three members of Alpha Triad and begins to give them their own personalities and fighting abilities. They no longer are just Alpha Triad, but now they are truly Blade, Hickok and Geronimo. Joshua even comes into his own in this book. The Triad heads off to Minneapolis/St. Paul where they meet multiple friendlies and unfriendlies.

David Robbins writes a fun read. It is certainly not "heavy" sci/fi. This series is most closely linked in writing style, plot... to the James Axler "Deathlands" and "Outlanders". Mr. Robbins, however, does not appear to be a nom' de plume for a group of writers. Read it on the beach with a beer, read it on a flight but don't read it to expand your intellect. A short (255 page), enjoyable bit of throwaway fiction.

ENDWORLD # 3 THIEF RIVER FALLS RUN By David Robbins Genre: Adventure

Yet another good `un from David Robbins and the 5th EW book I've read. Blade, Hickock, Geronimo, & Joshua head off to the Twin Cities in search of medical equipment and supplies to help combat a problem the old people at the Home are having with premature senility including Plato the Home's leader. On the way to their destination they are attacked by a motorcyclist who Hickock kills, on the body they find a map which leads them to Thief River Falls where they encounter a mysterious gang of men who are part of the Watchers. After a firefight and the death of the Watchers they find a captive black woman called Bertha from Twin Cities in the gangs HQ along with supplies of weapons and food and a generator. The Alpha triad encounter some strange
half-human half-animal creatures they christen Brutes which they kill. More Watchers arrive and the group from the Home are trapped in the bad guys old HQ and Blade is captured after a great battle with Watcher soldiers and two more of the Brutes. The Alpha Triad best the Watchers after a risky plan of Hickock's comes up trumps and they then decide to go back to the Home to recover as Hickock & Blade have both been fairly badly wounded. This book had plenty of action and once again the story moves at a brisk pace that keeps the reader engrossed from beginning to end, There is a high amount of humour in the book as well and I really like the banter between the member's of Alpha Triad and even the deeply religious Joshua joins in toward the end of the book as does Bertha who has obviously taken a big liking to "White Meat" aka Hickock. One aspect I really liked in the book was Joshua's internal battle with himself about whether he should take a life if he or his companions are threatened and it was interesting to see how he gradually changed as he experienced the harsher side of life. Another excellent book in the series and highly recommended.
