Very sexy and very well written,
By Vanessa Kelly (Ottawa, ON) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twin Fantasies (Paperback)
Opal Carew has written an erotic romance that is both accomplished and emotionally engaging - not something that is easy to do, in my opinion. The heroine is named Jenna, who is involved in a long-standing relationship that is both sexually and emotionally unsatisfying. Her fiance, Ryan, puts most of his energy into his growing software business, neglecting Jenna to the point where she thinks she will have to end their engagement. When Ryan bails out on escorting her to a wedding, Jenna is almost ready to give up. Much to her surprise, her fiance appears at the reception, pretending (she thinks) to be a perfect stranger. Jenna has told Ryan that sex with a stranger is one of her secret fantasies, and she thinks he shows up to fulfill her deepest desires. They have a night of wild, passionate sex. But the sexy "stranger" is not Ryan, but his identical twin Jake. Plots about twins are very tricky to pull off, for a number of reasons. One is that it has been done before. But Carew makes the story come alive with a combination of plot twists and very, very hot sex. There is genuine character development, especially for Ryan, who grows throughout the course of the novel. Right to the very end, I wondered which man Jenna would pick, so there is a real element of suspense to the plot.
Carew is a very accomplished and polished writer. For those who are looking for erotic romance with real story and heart, Twin Fantasies is for you.

Very sexy well written story that drew me in from the beginning. Jenna unintentionally gets involved with twins Ryan and Jake and the roller coaster starts from there. I liked that there was an actual story as well as explosive sex.

Wow! That's all I can say. Read this book and be prepared for the sexiest adventure in print. I loved the unusual hook this this story: a woman falling in love with two identical twins. It definitely is a fun twist and incredibly well executed. I would recommend sharing this with a loved one. This is definitely not just for women!

This book is beautifully written with fascinating characters in a sizzling sexy situation. I couldn't wait to see which brother won out in the end. I especially loved the romance, there were real emotions involved. This book can put sparks back into the most ho-hum sex life, just ask my husband...

Needed a better ending,
By M. Corbett-Clark (, FLORIDA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twin Fantasies (Paperback)
I was all set to enjoy this story and did until the two brothers decided to compete. I thought the solution the three of them decided on was a cop out. How could you pick a man who "wants" you so much that he ignores you during most of your relationship, like you're a disease. The only reason Ryan made room for Jenna and changes in his life is because Jake was willing to do it from their first meeting. Jake was the obvious choice she needed to make. Ryan would have learned to love the next woman he was involved with "out loud" or lose her too. Was I the only one GROSSED out about brothers sampling each others fliuds? Even though the brothers decided to put a whole life of differences aside, I can't see any man especially brothers putting his mouth on a woman directly after she has been with someone else, let alone his brother. I am all for the menage' but the behavior of these characters was unrealistic.

Twin Fantasies,
This review is from: Twin Fantasies (Paperback)
Jenna Kerry has come to a decision. She's tired of playing second to her lover's work. When he cancels plans to come with her to a wedding, she realizes she's going to have to call it off, despite her love for him. So, imagine her surprise when he shows up at the wedding after all - calling himself Jake and heating up her fantasy of having sex with a stranger.
Jake Leigh can't believe the wonderful woman he's just met. After their night together, he can't stop thinking about her. When he meets up with her again, he's determined to build a life with the woman he's fallen in love with. Too bad he's just found out she's actually his brother's fiancée. Ryan Leigh loves the woman he's with more than anything. Only, a life long competition with his brother has him determined to make his work a success in order to live up to Jake's example. When he finds out Jenna had an affair, he's determined to make some changes in his life. He won't lose her. Jake and Ryan are determined to win over Jenna. Jenna is torn up with her need to make a decision between them. Can they handle it when she expresses her interest in having a future with both men? When I first started reading Twin Fantasies, I honestly wasn't sure if I would like the characters. Jenna, Ryan and Jake are flawed individuals - full of insecurities and faults. It was those flaws that made me fall in love with them. Opal Carew has given these characters a depth and realism that I found at times frustrating and at others refreshing. I understood what Jenna was going through, because through the course of reading Twin Fantasies, I couldn't decide which man I liked more. Ryan is devoted to Jenna, and he's willing to fight for the woman he loves, even when it tears him up inside. Jake fell hard fast, but it is clear to see how much he cares for Jenna. When they found an arrangement that suited them all, I couldn't have been happier! Twin Fantasies is a thrilling romance, full of both incredible passion and heart-warming tenderness, and Opal Carew is an author to watch. Shannon reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

After skimming over the reviews, I knew I wanted to read this BUT and this is a SPOILER so don't read on for those that don't want to be spoiled.....if I had known that Jenna would be pregnant throughout the book, I wouldn't have bothered reading it. In fact, I felt very angry & duped when I found out she was pregnant. Being that I'm blissfully child-free, I'm not interested in that subject BUT it actually ended up being pretty entertaining. I did roll my eyes reading a few lines, one in particular dealing with "where foreskin would have been attached"... Oh come on! Was it really necessary to put that in there??
And I know this is just a book about fantasies BUT I have a twin sister & even the thought...never mind, I can't even begin to think about going there *shudders*. Also, If I were a man & in Ryan's shoes, I think I would have had a stronger reaction to finding out my girlfriend had sex with a complete stranger who got her pregnant!!! But again, this is just a book & it's part of the storyline. Since I read the book in a few hours, I can't say it didn't keep my interest. :) |
