Worth taking a second look at,
By
This review is from: Twin Of Fire (Mass Market Paperback)
Twin of Fire was the second of two books concentrating on the Chandler Twins of Chandler, Colorado. I found this to be the more interesting of the two because I felt character development was certainly more complete in this half of the series. Blair is an independant young woman who is struggling in the field of medicine when women doctor's were severely looked down upon. So not only do we see an interesting love story, but we get to see the struggle she faced as an early career woman. I recommend you read both, but take the time to savor Twin of Fire.

Blair & Lee just aren't Houston & Kane!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Twin Of Fire (Mass Market Paperback)
One of the problems with this book is that when I read it I expected it to be as great as its counterpart: TWIN OF ICE. But it just isn't as good. I finished reading it just to see more about the characters from the first book. I suppose my biggest problem was that the heroine, Blair, slept with her sister's fiancee. Also, I was upset that the hero actually didn't know the difference between the sisters! Give me a break! I never felt the same feelings I had for Kane and Houston. Had the characters gotten together in a more honorable way, I could have possibly felt something for them.

Fun and engrossing novel,

This review is from: Twin Of Fire (Mass Market Paperback)
Again, Deveraux uses her magical spells to weave together a great story about the Chandler Twins and their adventures. This time, this is about Blair and Lee, who was Houston's former fiance. They fall in love before their wedding even though Blair blames herself for making Houston unhappy. Then she wonders what Lee is up to ~~ every day he goes off on a mysterious errand and comes home hours later and more tired for it, while Blair works at the women's medical center.
Together, they are a team and unbeatable ~~ and this novel is a great escape from reality. Not as intense as Twin of Ice, it is still a gripping read. Once you pick it up, you can't put it down. Highly recommend this book for pool-side reading or waiting for those dance/karate lessons to be over. 8-16-04

Very romantic,

This review is from: Twin Of Fire (Mass Market Paperback)
Jade Deveraux is one of my favorite author. This book is romantice, smart and funny. Both twins books are very good, but I like this book better. Bliar wanted to become a doctor and she did. It's shows that if a man can do something a woman can also do it. She might even do better than the man.

Twin of Fire & Twin of Ice--2 must read books!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Twin Of Fire (Mass Market Paperback)
In "Twin of Fire," Ms. Deveraux continues the story of Blair & Houston Chandler. Twin of Fire concentrates mainly on Blair and her growing relationship with her sisters ex-fiance, Dr. Lee Westfield. Blair was studying to become a doctor in Pennsylvannia. She went back to Chandler, Colorado to be in her sisters wedding. There her sister concocts a scheme that winds up putting Blair and Lee together. This story of Houston and Kane is continued in this book, in which I thoroughly enjoyed reading more about their relationship. The hilarity of how the relationship between these four people develops will keep you laughing.

Houston has the better story,
By Alexis Callaway "Allie" (Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twin Of Fire (Mass Market Paperback)
I liked Twin of Ice better, but I was glad Jude Deveraux provided us with Blair's point of view as well as Houstons. It was like reading the same story just with the other twin in the background. I related with Houston more than I did with Blair, although I liked Lee as a man more than I did Kane. I felt Lee was a stronger and more handsome character. I liked Twin of Fire, dont get me wrong, but it wasnt as good as Twin of Ice.I recommend to all those who want to read about the dynamic Chandler twins to start with Houston first.

A good book if you're already a fan...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Twin Of Fire (Mass Market Paperback)
Deveraux essentially wrote one book when she wrote "Twin of Ice" and "Twin of Fire," but split it into two packages. It's the story of twins and their searches for love. You MUST read "Twin of Ice" first, as it sets up the story fully. The majority of "Twin of Fire" is to remind the reader of what happened in the first book, then giving the same events from the other twin's perspective. It's classic Deveraux, and a fan will like these (particularly "Twin of Ice", the better book). Be sure to read "Twin of Ice" first, and read "Twin of Fire" directly following. I didn't really like the "playing catch up" style of this book, but it was interesting to see the same events from many sides without muddying up the stories. If you're not already a fan, don't start with this one: read "Sweet Liar" or "A Knight in Shining Armor," my personal favorites (and I've read all but two now). "Twin of Fire" was not her best, but it was a nice book to cuddle up with on the couch.

Lady Doctor in Early Colorado,
By
This review is from: Twin Of Fire (Mass Market Paperback)
The second of the Chandler twins saga is the stronger story as Blair Chandler struggles both to build her medical practice and keep the love of Dr. Lee Westfield.
The characters are stronger, the plot more complex, and don't forget the trademark Devereaux romance. TWIN OF FIRE is a keeper to return for a second reading. Nash Black, author of Indie award finalists WRITING AS A SMALL BUSINESS and HAINTS.

Jude Deveraux is one of my favorite authors. However, readers should know that the TWIN books are a re-release of earlier editions. If you haven't read them, do!

not as good as twin of ice,
This review is from: Twin Of Fire (Mass Market Paperback)
ok, for those of you who haven't read twin of ice, the basic premise is blair is a female doctor who comes home to visit with her twin sister. the twins switch places and blair ends up sleeping with her sisters fiance. this is the story from blair's side - it is about who she is going to marry and how that marriage turns out (obviously she ends up with lee).
i have to say that i really enjoyed twin of ice - i liked seeing the characters change and grow as you got know them and as they got to know each other. unfortunately i can't say the same for twin of fire. to be honest, i wasn't very fond of blair - she slept with her sister's fiance for god's sake. she seemed very selfish for much of the book and very martyrish (sp?) as for lee, i didn't like him either all that much. i agree with the other reviewers that it is odd that he couldn't tell the twin apart when he has known them his whole life. personally, i wouldn't want to marry a man who couldn't tell who i was - if i was either of the girls. i also don't think the two main characters ever learned to trust each other. all in all, this just wasn't as good as twin of ice. the characters weren't as good, and the plot wasn't as good. in addition, it seems odd that some of the stuff that happened in twin of ice didn't happen in twin of fire (the mine cave in or breaking kane out of jail) and vice versa, such as blair getting kidnapped (didn't happen in twin of ice) and lee blowing things up or getting shot or anything like that. so i guess that this was a decent book, but twin of ice is much much better. this is a decent book, and if you liked twin of ice, you could read this (but don't have to) although it does flesh out opal and her relationship with her husband. so, i hope you enjoy whatever book you do end up reading. |
