good deal for this particular type,

This review is from: Twin Light Architect's Clamp-On Desk Lamp (Misc.)
I've seen this kind of lamp advertised on office supplies online stores and they go anywhere from 2x to 3x the price of this lamp. This makes the lamp a good deal for this particular type. I've found cheaper lamps for about $20, but the arm on those cheapos doesn't stay in its intended position and the knobs don't do anything. The build on this lamp appears to be of good quality. Almost all parts are made of steel or some other metal. I was going to purchase this off of amazon, but I found out that there is a Lamps Plus store near where I live so I went there in person to check it out. The arm on the display model worked rather well and so does the one I have now. The main downside I've seen so far is that you can only get this in white. One last thing is that the one I purchased included both the circular fluorescent and incadescent bulbs.

Due to its dual bulbs (incandescent and fluorcescent), this lamp gives off a really high quality of light, and it's bright. Very pleasant for paperwork, drawing, etc. It's full-size (a little big really) and comes with a properly designed clamp for attaching to the edge of a desk or table.
The quality is not the best. The lamp rattles quite audibly when I just touch the table, and tiny flakes of paint keep falling from one of the rotating joints. Also I have to hold down the "start" button for a good couple of seconds to make the fluorescent bulb turn on, which is a nuisance.

Great Desk Lamp for doing Homework/Cramming!,

Picked this up in store. I clamped this onto a desk on my left side and keep it right over my head. The movement of this thing reminds of being at the dentist, though I've never shined it in front of my big mouth (lol). It does have a 2-bulb feature, one circline (circular) fluorescent bulb at 22W I think, and also has a socket in the center for "Type A" bulbs I think it supports up to 100W. I got rid of the coventional bulb in favor of a non-circline fluorescent bulb that looks like a small white slinky. If you get this lamp I suggest you install 2 fluorescent bulbs to accomodate the sockets. I got this during Finals Week this past Fall.

I've seen the light,

I am a quilter who had been trying to solve my lighting need without giving up surface space. I chose this lamp because of the base clamp and it's claim to have a long extension. The clamp system on this lamp is very sturdy. No need to worry that it will be anything but stable when it is clamped to your surface. It does not move or wobble. The strong spring system is probably it's best feature. This lamp does not move when I change it's location or redirect the light. It is east to adjust and I love the handle on the globe for repositioning. I most often have the globe just above my head (I do not get hot sitting under it's light) but sometimes have to work on the other side of my large table. I simply move to the other side of the table and stretch the lamp to my new position. It works great. The lighting in excellent, no humming when it is on. The lamp head is a great size for distributing light. I highly recommend this light and am pleased with my selection.

I do jewelry repair. I bought this fluorescent light and am very pleased with the quality and sturdiness of the product. I would recomend it to anyone looking for a good task light at a good price.

Possibly the best desk lamp under $100,

About 10 years ago I got a lamp similar to this one for my wife (which she still uses every day), and since we're both very pleased with it, I figured it would be a good choice for our 11 y/o daughter as well. I shopped around at the mainstream "office supply" stores and just wasn't impressed. It seems as though those places have gone down-market; most of the desk lamps they now sell are either "gimmicky" and/or don't seem to be very good quality. I wanted to buy something that put out plenty of light and would last more than just a few years, and I was willing to pay a little more. This one is a different brand as my wife's but is almost an exact copy; the overall quality isn't quite as good, but I'm still giving it 5 stars because I think it's currently the best lamp of its kind under $100. It also comes with a pretty good clamp, which is something many of the others in this price range don't do. Summary: If you're looking for good value in a desk lamp that's truly versatile AND gives you the options of both florescent and incandescent lighting, this is probably your best choice.

I got this for my son's desk. It is very bright with the fluorescent bulb it comes with, I like that a lot. I didn't realize that I could also put an incandescent bulb in, haven't done it yet, though. The lamp stays in whatever position you put it unlike the cheap clamp-on desk lamp my daughter has had for years. The lamp shade is about 91/4" in diameter, quite a bit bigger than what I expected. But I would definitely buy it again.

A Best Buy in Desk Lamps,

I was surprised when I received this lamp, because I had not expected such a sturdy, well made, quality lamp for the money it cost. It is also energy efficient because of the two lights built in - one circular tubular fluorescent, and another screw-in socket into which a low wattage fluorescent bulb fits nicely. Either bulb alone furnishes ample light for most tasks.

If you can get better product at this price in the same category, I would be happy to give you full refund.... This is the best.
I've owned more than three clamp on desk light but this one is the best. Little bigger than you see on the picture but it's worth. Very solid and stable joint unlike others. Fluorescent light is cost-saving and stunningly bright. You will not regret, guaranteed. |
