5.0 out of 5 stars The best thing happened ever
This series is truly the best thing ever to happen to this planet. For all of you out there who doesn't know this: The series consist of 30 episodes and a film (Twin Peaks - Fire walk with me). Episode 1 (The pilot) and 9 (the first of season 2) is 90 minutes each and the rest is 45 minutes long. The film is about 2 hours and 10 minutes. It all begins with the discovery...

I am a Twin Peaks lover, so I ordered all the the VHS sets. The tapes were recored on EP so the sound goes in an out and the picture is fuzzy on a good entertainment system...wait for a dvd.

It all begins with the discovery of Laura Palmer's body. In the beginning it seems like just another detective story, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. I don't want to give away too much, but it builds from there to the grand finale at the end...

Just buy this...It's worth all the money. It's not easy to come by so buy it as soon as you can. The only thing you should be aware is that if you buy the boxed set or even separate tapes of this, you won't get the pilot episode. It's not for sale!!!! There is a pilot episode out there, but it's the "european version" which means it have a different ending, so the ending of the pilot doesn't match the beginning of episode 2. (Actually the pilot is listed as episode 0 and the second episode is 1 etc). So don't be fooled. It says "episode 1" on the cover, but it's actually no.2. The only way you can watch the original pilot episode with its original ending is on TV. I've heard that it's going to be released on DVD with the pilot, but you shouldn't count on it...

Well enough of the facts!! The whole thing is 26 hours and 10 minutes long and I've seen it 15 times, so you should too. (It's true, I've seen it 15 times and I'm not tired of it yet).

Thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars Twin Peaks at its intriguing brilliancy, February 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Twin Peaks - Episodes 1-5 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The start of the intrigue and the mystery is presented in the first 5 episodes- the characters are introduced and the atmosphere is set. Mesmerising soundtrack, with Audrey's theme being one of my favourites. This is a must for all to see- even if you are not a hardcore Twin Peaks fan, perhaps after watching the first five you will be. Enjoy and fall into it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great series, May 16, 1999

Letting Lynch go wild on his own the first five episodes introduce us to the NorthWest freak show that is Twin Peaks. Captivating and delirious you lose yourself in each individual episode and the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best TV Series EVER!, February 9, 2001

There's nothing more I need to add to what anyone else has already said about this groundbreaking, brilliant television series. Other than its existence gave me hope for the, otherwise, bland world of network television. Its cancellation dashed those hopes and confirmed my bleak opinion about network television and its viewers. Potential buyers of this series might want to check for a DVD release before buying it. This video series is recorded in EP mode, making it slightly grainy and fuzzy (even on the best players). Being that Twin Peaks is so visually (as well as aurally) amazing, I think it was kind of a rip-off, that its Extended Play recording wasn't made clear by the manufacturers. If there's never a better version released, the series is so unbelievably great, that ANY version is better than none. Just watch it anyway you can! Remember: "The owls are not what they seem."

5.0 out of 5 stars Twin Peaks is a harrowing and gripping story...brilliant!, December 21, 2001

I watched Twin Peaks for the first time this summer with my newly found beloved. I wasn't sure what to expect of it, being an early 90's TV series I was expecting some simular to the pulp series "The X-Files", Which wouldn't have been a bad thing. But I soon foud out it was something much more harrowing, gripping and meaningfull. The depth that Lynch takes it to is fantastic, as are the actors and well there is nothing negative about the first series, the second series go's of on a bit of a tangent, but is still worth watching, especailly the last few episodes.
All I can say is that I will always have fond memory's of watching this brilliant show.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Twin Peaks Series is brilliant!, October 4, 2000

I've watched the Twin Peaks series twice now and I plan to buy the series and watch them once again, and probably again, and then...once again! If you haven't seen this series, it's a must for suspense and mystery lovers! David Lynch clinched this one just as well as his amazing movies like Blue Velvet or more recently, Lost Highway. But because it's a series,he had free riegn to develop and display this work over a period of 30+ hours. So, if you are familiar with Lynch, and like his work and haven't seen the series- I would purchase this series! It's a great "get-together on Saturday night" series! And even if you haven't heard of Lynch, and you like strange, mysterious, other-worldly, some times funny, sometimes freaky as HELL kind of shows, this is for you! (Beware of BOB behind your BED!!)

I am a big fan of the Twin Peaks "who killed Laura Palmer" question. If you're really curious get the:Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me" video. Then try to find the magazine "Wrapped In Plastic" and read about doppelgangers, etc. Twin Peaks is still alive. "Wrapped In Plastic" refers to the manner in which the killer killed Laura Palmer and Teresa Banks. Confused? Get Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me video from AMAZON.COM. Wrapped in Plastic is available elsewhere on the internet. They have a WEB site. Good Luck, Y'all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Techincal information for British buyers, September 9, 2000
By
Neil Coward (Blackpool, Lancashire England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twin Peaks - Episodes 1-5 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
One thing to note is where it says the video is in 'NTSC format' The video comes out as black and white if you watch it on a British video player - don't ask me why! Maybe NTSC format stands for 'Not to see colour' arff arff! (and thats colour spelt properly with a 'u' please note).

I don't agree with the previous reviewer who says the quality of the 5 episodes on 1 tape was so poor he was thinking of sending it back. I also bought episode one on its own tape by mistake (DOH!) but found the quality is just as good on the 5 episode tape. Maybe the fact that us Limeys have to watch the videos in black and white means we miss out on dodgy colours and so the quality of the video is acceptable.

If you are a twin peaks fan and have found that the videos are difficult to find here in Britain and you don't mind watching in black and white, by all means by these videos! I was very happy with episodes 1-5 and have now ordered the second video, episodes 6-9. Obviously Twin Peaks deserves a 5 rating but I have given the video a 3 due to it being in black and white.

5.0 out of 5 stars More technical information for British buyers, March 30, 2001
By
Neil Coward (Blackpool, Lancashire England) - See all my reviews

Since writing the review 'technical information for British buyers' I have upgraded my video player and now the all the videos play in colour. So its your call if you want to order them from Britain. I now have the full set and am delighted with the quality of the videos. Its upgraded rating is now 5 stars.

They should have stopped after the first series of Twin Peaks. The first series all ties up nicely at the end and is one of the weirdest and most original murder mysteries of all time. The second series loses its way a bit but it does have its moments and the ending is, well, just what you would expect from Twin Peaks!
