5.0 out of 5 stars Let's get it released!, June 1, 2004
By
Ok, so this is a cheesy gimmick, and not the type of thing I would normally do, but desperate times...

If you are looking forward to season 2 on dvd, and the producers & studio are royally pissing you off because they can't get off their you-know-whats and just release it, then give this review a "found it helpful" nod. Let's show them how much we are all looking forward to this release. Season 1 came out so long ago, and those of us who refuse to buy the horribly-reviewed VHS version of season 2 are jonesing for this.

So let's see it. Who's with me?

5.0 out of 5 stars Twin Peaks Second Season, October 28, 2002
By
Susan E. Slattery (Hinsdale, MA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Well, when it aired, they withheld the last six episodes -- and folks had to send naked Barbie dolls wrapped in plastic and logs and donuts to Robert Iger, the network big wig. Now it looks like we have to picket to get those episodes on DVD. What gives? Haven't we already proven that Twin Peaks fans are devoted, if not rabid? Why is it that a billion copies of Dumb & Dumber can't get to DVD fast enough, while something as masterful as Twin Peaks languishes in pre-production yet again? Listen, not everyone is an idiot out here in audience land. Some of us occasionally enjoy something intellectual. SEND US TWIN PEAKS, SEND US THE SECOND SEASON ALREADY, or you can bet I'll be slaying Barbies and shipping them with logs to somebody.

5.0 out of 5 stars News On Season 2 DVD - Paramount, August 18, 2005
By
Last year, there were no talks at all about releasing season 2 of Twin Peaks on dvd. Artisan went under and, I stand to be corrected, was taken over by Lion's Gate, who did not think it would make much profit by releasing season 2 on dvd. Now it seems that Paramount and David Lynch are working hard at releasing season 2 sometime in early 2006. David Lynch is extremely picky about digital video medium, so he will supervise the entire transfer for season 2 to produce the best possible discs. It will definitely be worth the wait, in my opinion, as witnessed in the Wild at Heart dvd that was released at the end of 2004. Although this movie came out in 1990, there was never an official US dvd release. If you watch the extra features on the disc, Lynch explains the tedious work of converting everything to dvd. As a result of his supervision, Wild at Heart looks extremely beautiful and the colors were restored to the true image that Lynch originally envisioned on film. This is why it took 10 years to finally release Wild at Heart on dvd. I am hoping they do the same for Lost Highway, as there is no official US version on dvd.

You can go on http://www.lynchnet.com, an unofficial resource of David Lynch news, a site that I refer to all the time and also has very accurate information. On the website, you can also find detailed information and solid links to his new upcoming movie "INLAND EMPIRE", which looks very promising. The news section also mentions the reason for the delay for the Dune Extended Edition dvd.

Season 2 of twin peaks as well as further episodes are some of the best in the series. People are critical of the final episodes after season 2, as Lynch had left the series and audiences were weary of the direction the show was headed. Overall, the series is definitely one of the best on television. Even though this series is some of the more straightforward work by Lynch, it still captures the mysterious eroticism, small town mentality and quirks, and captivating pace that is found in all of Lynch's work. The entire Twin Peaks season is essential to fully understand and appreciate Fire Walk With Me. Without watching beyond season 1, you are still able to understand Fire Walk With Me, but it is also a spoiler.

Nonetheless, Twin Peaks was a television series like no other. At the time of its broadcast, I was only 10 years old and watched segments here and there and I believed it was on right after Wonder Years, so I would stick around and watch it. I intepreted it as a soap opera of sorts as well as a murder mystery. Even at that young age, I was intrigued. Now after re-watching them, its hard to believe that they had a series with that type of subject matter in a near prime time slot. If hardcore fans are desparate to finish the series before the release, they have VHS version of every episode of Twin Peaks available. You won't find them at blockbuster, but rather your regular movie store that carries old VHS and independent movies. I remember spending over $50 renting all the videos after Season 1 dvd came out. I had to know what happened after that cliffhanger ending with Federal Bureau of Investigations Special Agent Dale Cooper.
