Let's show them how much we are all looking forward to this release. Season 1 came out so long ago, and those of us who refuse to buy the horribly-reviewed VHS version of season 2 are jonesing for this.

So let's see it. Who's with me?

5.0 out of 5 stars Twin Peaks Second Season, October 28, 2002
By
Susan E. Slattery (Hinsdale, MA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Well, when it aired, they withheld the last six episodes -- and folks had to send naked Barbie dolls wrapped in plastic and logs and donuts to Robert Iger, the network big wig. Now it looks like we have to picket to get those episodes on DVD. What gives? Haven't we already proven that Twin Peaks fans are devoted, if not rabid? Why is it that a billion copies of Dumb & Dumber can't get to DVD fast enough, while something as masterful as Twin Peaks languishes in pre-production yet again? Listen, not everyone is an idiot out here in audience land. Some of us occasionally enjoy something intellectual. SEND US TWIN PEAKS, SEND US THE SECOND SEASON ALREADY, or you can bet I'll be slaying Barbies and shipping them with logs to somebody.

5.0 out of 5 stars News On Season 2 DVD - Paramount, August 18, 2005
By
Last year, there were no talks at all about releasing season 2 of Twin Peaks on dvd. Artisan went under and, I stand to be corrected, was taken over by Lion's Gate, who did not think it would make much profit by releasing season 2 on dvd. Now it seems that Paramount and David Lynch are working hard at releasing season 2 sometime in early 2006. David Lynch is extremely picky about digital video medium, so he will supervise the entire transfer for season 2 to produce the best possible discs. It will definitely be worth the wait, in my opinion, as witnessed in the Wild at Heart dvd that was released at the end of 2004. Although this movie came out in 1990, there was never an official US dvd release. If you watch the extra features on the disc, Lynch explains the tedious work of converting everything to dvd. As a result of his supervision, Wild at Heart looks extremely beautiful and the colors were restored to the true image that Lynch originally envisioned on film. This is why it took 10 years to finally release Wild at Heart on dvd. I am hoping they do the same for Lost Highway, as there is no official US version on dvd.

You can go on http://www.lynchnet.com, an unofficial resource of David Lynch news, a site that I refer to all the time and also has very accurate information. On the website, you can also find detailed information and solid links to his new upcoming movie "INLAND EMPIRE", which looks very promising. The news section also mentions the reason for the delay for the Dune Extended Edition dvd.

Season 2 of twin peaks as well as further episodes are some of the best in the series. People are critical of the final episodes after season 2, as Lynch had left the series and audiences were weary of the direction the show was headed. Overall, the series is definitely one of the best on television. Even though this series is some of the more straightforward work by Lynch, it still captures the mysterious eroticism, small town mentality and quirks, and captivating pace that is found in all of Lynch's work. The entire Twin Peaks season is essential to fully understand and appreciate Fire Walk With Me. Without watching beyond season 1, you are still able to understand Fire Walk With Me, but it is also a spoiler.

Nonetheless, Twin Peaks was a television series like no other. At the time of its broadcast, I was only 10 years old and watched segments here and there and I believed it was on right after Wonder Years, so I would stick around and watch it. I intepreted it as a soap opera of sorts as well as a murder mystery. Even at that young age, I was intrigued. Now after re-watching them, its hard to believe that they had a series with that type of subject matter in a near prime time slot. If hardcore fans are desparate to finish the series before the release, they have VHS version of every episode of Twin Peaks available. You won't find them at blockbuster, but rather your regular movie store that carries old VHS and independent movies. I remember spending over $50 renting all the videos after Season 1 dvd came out. I had to know what happened after that cliffhanger ending with Federal Bureau of Investigations Special Agent Dale Cooper.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Always Happens, August 19, 2005
TWIN PEAKS******Please hurry and bring out season 2, with All the episodes that were made. Also the series PILOT. As an avid fan of Twin Peaks, I thought it gave a little depth to TV where a person could just sit down and watch glued to thier seats, waiting for the next episode. Talk about suspense. This was one of the best shows. The opening was of beautiful mountains and the music was great. I even bought the Twin Peaks CD soundtrack when it came out. It never fails. When ever TV puts a series on that grabbs the people it gets dropped because of the ratings. Well try putting the little black boxes in homes where we appreciate good TV. Its not fair that EVERYONE doesn't get a vote in what we enjoy seeing.

5.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE quit ... us around!, January 3, 2003
By A Customer
Ok, I am getting pretty tired of the "higher ups" dicking us around with the release of this season 2 DVD. As with all the other fellow Peakers out there, I too have the awful 29 episodes on tape. I actually returned the tapes because they were so bad in quality, only to realize that the new set they gave me was no better. When I bought Season 1 on DVD, I was so happy to see such wonderful clarity, sound...everything!! I really hope these people get their act together already and quit teasing us with a release date for Season 2. It would really ... to just have Season 1...and have to watch the rest of the series on my ... VHS tapes. They did such a wonderful thing by putting Season 1 on DVD...I just don't see the big deal about getting the rest on DVD....what is the friggin hold up!

A very disgusted peaker.....

2.0 out of 5 stars More Twin Peaks for 2005, October 29, 2004
Hey Folks, some good news here...the following appeared at Moviehole.net, October 22:

LynchNet site reports that the Season 2 DVD (which was supposed to be released late `04) was delayed because Paramount plans on releasing the DVD on a global scale. "Paramount say it's almost a sure thing that you'll see Season Two, as well as a re-release of Season One with the Pilot included, released by Paramount as soon as the rights revert back to them around September 2005.

The current rights holder, Lion's Gate (formally Artisan) has no plans to further exploit Twin Peaks or any of it's Spelling Entertainment titles due to the short time frame they have before the rights are lost. So it's all up to Paramount now.

Our sources also tell us that part of the reason for the delay of Season Two in other international regions is to have one big release worldwide around the same time in every country, US included. So for you folks overseas, you're also being affected by the rights issue here in the US. The other, though somewhat lesser reason for the delay is to allow more time to work on bonus features", says the site.

Nice. It's still coming. But how about "Fire Walk with Me"? Is there truly any chance of seeing that Directors Cut? (for the unswerved, Lynch was forced to cut hours from the film for its original theatrical run - and that's basically the reason why it makes no frickin' sense). Maybe. Another top Lynch resource, Dugpa.com, has contacted the studio who planned on releasing the cut bits, and got a favourable response back. "MK2 has been getting lots of support from the fans to release FWWM on DVD with Deleted Scenes. I have gotten word back from MK2 that they are in fact trying to meet with Lynch once more in hopes to come to an agreement, and will be pushing their 2 Disc Collectors DVD of FWWM back to 2005. They will in fact still be releasing a single disc version in December of the film with a 5.1 English and French audio mix. In speaking with MK2, they sounded optimistic to explore every possibility".

5.0 out of 5 stars News, May 11, 2005
By
Slaartibartfass (Cologne, Germany) - See all my reviews
As I already posted in the review section for Season 1 a few days ago: It is now pretty certain that Paramount will do a worldwide release of Season 2 at the end of 2005 or the beginning of 2006 - a lot of bonus material has already been compiled, but they still have to do a video transfer and a 5.1 audio remastering of the episodes (which takes time...). If you want more info, go to: www.tvshowsondvd.com/shownews.cfm?ShowID=4407.
Can't wait to see Season 2 in all its glory returning to my TV!

5.0 out of 5 stars Where Is The Second Peak?, January 8, 2003
I gather from other websites that Artisan's Home Entertainment division has been contacted and a Season Two DVD set doesn't show up on their 2003 production calendar. Pressure needs to be applied to Artisan. What on earth is the point of releasing the first season and stopping there?

This situation is all the more frustrating when you see that the DVD marketplace is currently swimming with the re-released film and TV garbage of the past 30 years.

We want the rest of Twin Peaks.

5.0 out of 5 stars JONSIN' FOR SEASON TWO, January 25, 2004
By
just me (Washington, USA) - See all my reviews
I am a huge David Lynch fan. ESPECIALY Twin Peaks. I own the episodes on VHS (as horrible in quality as they are), and was so happy when I found season one on DVD. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the DVDs (especialy after wearing out the already bad VHS tapes). What I enjoy most with the DVDs, in comparison to the VHS tapes (aside from the obvious quality improvement), is the optional intro with the Log Lady.

In some false hope that the powers that be may read this I have to ask, why couldn't the entire series have been put into one package as was done with the VHS tapes to begin with? The first season was really only a half season anyway. I beg you to release the second season on DVD, even if it is through an order form as a previous "review" suggested. This is seriously torture thinking that I may have to revert to my VHS tapes forever to finish the series.
