4.0 out of 5 stars Great stroller!, February 7, 2005
This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
Well I did a lot of online research, read every review on every site I could find about strollers. I narrowed my search down to a couple strollers:

1. Peg Perago Aria side by side

2. Maclaren

3. Duorider by graco

The Aria was very very pricey, since this was my 5th stroller purchase since my now 3 year old daugther was born, I could not justify spending more than $350 on this stroller.

The Maclaren had some negative reviews and seemed so bulky when I saw it in the store.

The Duorider seemed like a great choice but no cupholders, and it was wider than this stroller which gave me some pause on purchasing that one. Plus I have a tandem graco the duoglider which is a beast - heavy, hard to control and just a real pain so that kind of turned me off to graco.

So I chose this very stroller for the following reasons:

1. Price (compared to peg perago and maclaren)

2. Slimmer than all other side by sides, good for store and doorway navagation.

3. Baskets under stroller, need when shopping with two little ones.

4. Reclining seats

Pros:

It's kind of on the heavy side but being able to fold it so small makes up for that. It could easily fit into a car trunk, I have a truck but was still looking for something that folded up smaller and didn't take up the whole back.

My girls love being able to sit next to one another. Slim and able to navagate the isles in the local stores.

Cons:

I wish it had a snack tray for each of the kids and a cup holder as well but the strollers with that feature had other things I did not like about them which ruled them out.

The basket is a mesh which does not seem like it will hold anything heavy.

I got this stroller for $185 so I am a little surprised that babiesrus is charging so much for it, then you also have to pay the over sized shipping fee on top of the $199. I only paid a flat shipping rate and that was included in the $185 on babyage.com. I got the stroller very quickly as well.

It was all put together except for the hood which was easy to attach. I think it will take awhile to get used to opening and closing it but that can be said with any new product.

We were really looking for a quality stroller that will not take up much space when we drive across country or when we want to put groceries in our truck (expedition). This stroller fits the bill.

5.0 out of 5 stars THOUGHT I'D HATE IT... I LLLLLOOOOOOOVE IT!, August 13, 2004
By
A. Simmons (Oklahoma City) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
I bought this stroller recently to replace my heavier than heavy double Graco travel system stroller. I am pretty picky about strollers and sort of expected to be disappointed. I opened the box, unfolded the stroller and still thought I'd be disappointed. Even after reading the directions - how to use the canopies, how to unfold and fold - I thought I wouldn't end up liking it. I LOVE IT! This stroller is not flimsy like a cheap umbrella stroller. The handles are nice and tall. The grips are comfortable. I have no trouble steering with one hand if I need to. The seats are comfortable. The canopies are large enough to shade from the sun. I will say that some of the construction seems sort of primitive (canopies and seat reclining), but it's only because I got used to a stroller that folded with a push of a button. It would be like going from a car that has electric windows to having to roll them down manually - not that big of a deal and I'm already used to the change and I've used it about twice so far. Unfolding and folding are no big deal as long as you read the directions and do a few practice tries. It folds down pretty small for a double stroller and it's a better deal $$$. It's not too heavy... under 30lb. The ride is smooth. Be sure to have all wheels unlocked though. You do have to buy a separate attachable cup holder for yourself and for your child. I sort of like the fact that there is no front bar on the seats. It's great at the zoo when my son wants to get in and out and look at the animals... and if I don't want him getting out, I just strap him in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stroller for a Great Price!, June 14, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
I am so pleased with this stroller! It is hard to find in real life, so I had to order it sight unseen online and have been pleasantly surprized.
I love the fabric, it is classy and stain resistant so it won't absorb spills, yet it is still very soft for the little guys. It moves really well, and handles my four year old's weight with out even wincing, plus it is easy to push even with a four year old in one side and a one year old in the other.
The 5 point harness feels very secure.
The recline is great, it has a fully upright position (my one year old is very cozy, it is angled great for sitting unlike some of his other strollers), and it also has 3 different recline positions. The lowest recline is very low and I will feel perfectly comfortable putting an infant in the stroller at the lowest recline. It is somewhat heavy, but it does fold up to the size of about a golf bag, very nice for a double. It isn't unmanagable by any means. It takes a few times to get used to the fold, but I'm sure with more time and use I'll be an old pro!
The hoods are large and very sturdy and the peekabo windo is situated so that if the seat is reclined you can see baby without having to have the hood completely extended, very useful (that always bugged me about my graco).
The baskets are each big enough to hold a reasonably sized diaper bag, plus you can hang some bags on the handles if you'd like. There is nothing tippy about this stroller!
The only disadvantage for me is that it doesn't have a parent cup holder, so I'll have to find one to add on.
I am confident that this stroller will serve us for the long run, and grow with my boys. Deffinately consider this stroller before you spend atleast $100 more on one of it's competitors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, June 25, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
Finally a moderatly priced twin stroller that is worth every penny. It's very light, and very sturdy. Even with only one child in it it is still very easy to manuever. It isn't very wide so it's easy to get in and out of tight spaces. You can hang a diaper bag on it and it won't tip with the kids in it or out of it. The baskets underneath can't hold a big diaper bag, but are ample for storage. The seats recline so easily it's amazing. It's a little tricky to fold, but once you get the hang of it it's no problem. My husband loves the tall handles so he doesn't have to bend over while pushing the kids. Don't spend extra for another stroller, this one is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars I cannot understand how anyone could purchase anything other than the Swift!, July 17, 2005
This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
I am a mother of a 5 1/2 year old, an 18 month old, and a 7 month old...

I needed a strong, comfortable, easy to use double stroller for the kids, and I didnt want a huge bulky one either... The twin swift is very simple, and doesnt have the bells and whistles that we never used on our sons single stroller, so why would we use them on a double?

1. The stroller wasnt too expensive, and after searching EVERYWHERE to see it in person, we gritted our teeth and ordered it right off of Amazon... The swift came within the week, and all we had to do was pop on the wheels and the canopies... good thing when you are 8 months pregnant!

2. The stroller is very sturdy, it will handle rough terrain and sidewalks with ease. It doesnt seem like it will break, and I feel that its 28 lb body makes it very safe, yet its still easy for me to lift. It has a two-handed fold, but this is okay being that I rarely fold the stroller with a baby in my arms anyway (even if it does have a one-handed fold!)

3. The stroller manuvers well, fits through many tight spaces, and even most doorways. I can turn it with one hand, as well as steering it through a crowded mall... I rarely bump into anyone or anything either...

4. I found the stroller to be very good for babies as well. The seats fully recline with one hand, which WAS important since I do this while walking... The recline is smooth enough if your child is sleeping, and it rarely gets stuck. The five-point harnesses keep a baby safe, and upright... They are easy to use, and comfortable, and also happen to be easy for me to adjust. The canopies cover an entire head, while also letting mom or dad see the children through the little windows in the back. The seats are also very comfortable, plush, and easy to remove for cleaning.

5. The features for the parents are nice, like the tall and comfortable handles for steering. The baskets are pretty small, but we rarely carry a bag thats too large to fit in the baskets, you just have to carry only whats truly needed. We can also manage to keep shopping bags over the handle bars without them banging against the stroller, or tipping it over.

6. We have taken the Swift to the airport, zoo, aquarium, to NYC, malls, park, beach and everywhere else we go. Other than a single umbrella stroller, the Swift is the only one we own! We are glad that the Swift can provide our children with a comfortable ride in many situations, saving us precious $$$...

I would recomend the Swift for anyone looking for a reasonably priced, reliable, and minimalist double stroller...

This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
Just got the stroller in mail, had to order sight unseen also, tried all those retailers at the site, no one carries this as a floor model, they say side-by-side strollers don't sell well. I can't imagine why. I LOVE it. Friends all said their kids outgrew and hated the tandem strollers by age 2. My 2+ year old daughter loves stroller rides, so I want to make sure she will still love the new stroller. We already rode around the block twice with her baby Elmo next to her. Got alot of funny looks from my neighbors. Dimensions on the stroller are 29"W x 44"H, wt. 28+lbs. Get this stroller, you won't regret it. It is elegant, sturdy, spacious, and easy to manuever even with a stuffed animal on one side:)

5.0 out of 5 stars We love our Twin Swift, July 9, 2005
By
This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
After much deliberation, my husband and I decided on the Twin Swift (in Navy) for our twin sons, who will soon be 11 months old.

(*1*) The twin swift clears doorways easily. I can fit through EVERY door I come across, EXCEPT for restrooms, small aisles, or the smaller shops/stores.

(*2*) The stroller maneuvers incredibly well also. I can turn the stroller with minimal effort, and I can even push it single-handedly, or my 5 1/2 year old could push it easily as well!

(*3*) The size isn't too large, and its only 28 lbs too! Once folded, its the size of an average golf bag too, which is a lifesaver! I would really warn you since its not a one-handed folding mechanism! I can sometimes manage with a hand and a foot, but find it LESS time consuming to just use two hands.

(*4*) The kids have five-point harnesses that I love. They are anchored on correctly, and safely, something a little worrisome about the Aria Twin stroller! It holds them well, and compensates for the Swift's lack of belly bars/snack trays! Its also easy to use the Swift without the shoulder straps.

(*5*) I love that the seats recline well for the babies, not fully down, but low enough to be utilized as a changing table! It also sits high-enough for fidgety 2 year olds (my nieces). I cant recline the seats while walking, but I can do it WITH CAUTION while the boys are sleeping...

(*6*) The storage is extremely lacking. The only storage are two small mesh baskets! I had to look high and low (for MONTHS!) until I found a durable, thin, "organisable" diaper bag that could hold our minimum needs! In the other basket I can fit my daughters book bag, OR my purse, OR a few receiving blankets. All of the shopping packages are kept on the handlebars, and they dont unbalance the stroller at all! Sadly, the Swift also doesn't have compartments for me and daddy, but that's compensative!

(*7*) The canopies are a very high point in the Swift. They are large enough to cover the twins no matter WHAT the recline position is! They also have a "window" so that you can see your babies as well! They are tall, so older children are fine, and its easy to attach the rain shield that we bought separately... which is great!

(*8*) The wheels swivel, and they turn so easily. I love that they are durable and help absorb bumps, cracks, and a bit of gravely surfaces.

We love the Swift stroller, and even purchased two cup holders for me and my husband, and a hook on snack tray for the boys! A great stroller, that we just cannot get enough of!

3.0 out of 5 stars not all i expected, but serves its purpose, October 1, 2005
By
A. Allen (Northeast USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
I read many reviews and browsed many sites before purchasing this stroller. I mainly relied on the excellent grade it received on strollers.babygaga.com, even compared to the double MacLaren. I figured with the dimensions (ease of fitting through doorways), the apparently good sun shade, the compact fold-up for fitting in the car trunk, ease of steering, the five-point harness and the four-position recline, I wouldn't be disappointed. I couldn't see myself paying much more than this and the reviews seemed overwhelmingly positive.

Well, for its price range, it is living up to the expectations except for the sun shade (I don't think I'll ever find a satisfactory shade on a stroller!) However, a few problems that I read on some reviews but thought I could live with have turned out to be very aggravating for me:

- the weight -- it feels very heavy, especially because it's hard to lock it into the folded position so I rarely take the time to do that... I take it in and out of the car trunk daily and it's really tiring, plus it falls open as soon as you pick it up...

- the difficulty of opening and closing -- I have had it for several weeks and use it almost every day, and I still have trouble; it is not practice, it is sheer strength that is needed, and I am not a weak person ... after seeing one review saying it's "easy" to open and close, I wonder if mine is defective!

These difficulties make it somewhat of a struggle to pop out of my apartment building for a stroll twice a day as I want to with my 16-month-old daughter and 4-month-old nephew... I thought it would make my life a lot easier; I guess I was spoiled by my single MacLaren we use for my daughter (lightweight and easy to fold; same type of folding mechanism but works much better; has a carrying handle and really can be brought up and down stairs with a child in the other arm)... Whoever said the Twin Swift is easy to carry and fold must be either a body builder or comparing it to an enormous heavy stroller...

The seats are a little slim (small price to pay for fitting through doorways easily) but they are pretty cushy - my daughter looks a bit cramped but comfortable and cozy (she likes to curl up against the side to go to sleep)... and the infant looks comfy and safe...

The sunshade either pops off or prevents you from completely folding up the stroller; now I just remove it when I fold the stroller up and that works much better...

I find the location of the windows on the shades to be totally illogical and annoying; you can only see through to a baby who is laying in the fully reclined position. When they are sitting up I can't peek through to see if the toddler is bothering the infant; that was one reason I made sure it had the windows before buying!! I have to stop walking to look at them when I'm using the shade...

I was concerned about quality at first because the back wheels were making noise and shaking, but that seems to have stopped ...

Overall, if you really can't see yourself spending much more than $200, if you can handle the aggravation of difficult open and close, and you'll be doing mostly short city walking and errands involving doorways, go for it. (Not good on lots of bricks and cracks) ... If I don't break myself or the stroller trying to open it, I'll say the pros outweigh the cons... but I wish I had found a used or reduced price double MacLaren ... check ebay!

5.0 out of 5 stars A simple, yet reliable stroller, July 1, 2005
By
This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
We registered for this stroller before our now 7 month old twins were even born!

Features/Performance

* Five-point harnesses for both children. They can be used as three-points, but you can not remove the shoulder straps. The straps are also padded and adjustable

* Individually reclining seats. Both seats recline fully, and both seats sit totally erect as well.

* Two mesh baskets behind the stroller.

* 3 tall handles. Include durable grips... (I am 5"7 and my husband is 6"2)

* 6 swivel wheels, and brakes that work for all of them. The wheels are also rubber, not plastic.

* Removable, wipe-able seat covers. Come in Navy, and beige/red.

* Two adjustable canopies. Include windows and "visors". Rainsheilds are also available

* I believe that the stroller is 28 lbs.

* Folds compactly, fits well into the trunk of an SUV, or an average sized car

* NOT a two handed fold

* Fits through most doorways, troubles seem to occur in restrooms and smaller shops. *** Average doorway= 32 inches wide***

Our 2 cents

* The mesh baskets dont hold all that much. We transitioned to a lightweight diaper bag, and carry only the necessities. The other basket can hold two receiving blankets, my purse, and maybe a few toys.

* You can hang packages over the handles with seemingly no weight limit. It also doesn't really effect the strollers performance as you would suspect.

* The stroller ride quite smoothly on almost any surface, and doesn't rattle the boys or show much wear

* The fold takes quite an effort at first, but once mastered (few days tops) it may become easier, like one hand and a knee/foot

* The boys have been in this stroller since they were born, well we actually started using a stroller at 3 months. But with infant support, and the seats reclined we faced relatively no problems

* It turns surprisingly well, and I can now push and turn the stroller with one hand!

* You don't have to worry about germ-filled restroom changing tables, the seats recline to provide a GREAT changing table, no matter WHERE you are.

*KEEP IN MIND* The Swift doesn't have...

* Cup holders or snack trays

* A travel system compartment for nick-knacks

* A large basket

* Fancy footrests/bassinet features

You can purchase stroller accesories, and make the Swift into a more extravagant stroller, but we find that to be unnecessary. We found that the stroller is great for us, since we dont need many extras... Its of well quality, without an outrageous price tag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Check your priorities first!, June 28, 2005
By
Chelsea (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twin Swift Stroller -Navy w/ Mesh Basket (Toy)
I have 9 month old twins, and a 2.5 year old, and this stroller has been my hero!

My husband and I were beginning to believe that there would be NO double stroller that we liked... so we made a list of the priorities we had to have in a stroller... and this is what we came up with... (listed in a random order)

1. It needed to be lightweight and easy to lift/push up steep inclines
2. It had to fold VERY compactly so we could shove packages around it while stored in the trunk
3. We absolutely wouldn't settle for ANY stroller without 5 point harnesses!
4. The strollers seats had to recline equally, and more than a mere 3 inches!
5. The sun-protection had to be at least "satisfactory", and we would need one canopy for each child, not a huge canopy over both heads
6. We had our minds set on tall, umbrella-type handle bars on our stroller. This would make it easier to push (in our opinions) and easier to store bags over them.
7. The stroller had to be able to handle "semi-rough terrain". Meaning that we would have to be able to take it indoors, on the sidewalk, and over some unsteady surfaces.

The twin swift was probably the closest we would get to a "perfect" stroller, it didn't have EVERYTHING, but defiantly had all of our priorities!

Pushing this stroller couldn't be any easier. Even on smaller sidewalks and around sharp turns, the swift still rides smoothly, and easily... I am able to push SINGLE HANDEDLY, which was a big plus towards the Swift stroller that I hadn't even thought of before! Folding the stroller isn't quite as easy as many mechanisms you see on strollers nowadays. At first it took us two hands and all of our might to fold this darned thing! But after practicing for a few days, we had gotten folding it down to all but one hand and a foot... The stroller isn't all that lightweight, (I believe its 21 lbs, but it maybe 28 lbs, I am not sure) but carrying it into the trunk of my minivan, or my husbands SUV has never posed a problem. The stroller FITS THROUGH DOORS! We weren't sure what style we were getting while we were sorting out our priorities, but in a side-by-side your stroller must be under 32 inches wide... that's the size of a standard doorway, and I am sorry to say I haven't broken out the measuring tape, but the Swift fits through every doorway we take it through, the only challenge is through the ladies room... but that is to be expected. The seats recline individually, and I am able to recline them one-handedly, while walking, and without waking the boys. They recline fully flat, and sit fully upright. Since the seats recline fully, I was able to use this stroller when the boys were about 3 months old (right when my premies fit without sliding out!) The seats are also pretty comfortable, and easy to wipe up with a damp rag, or a baby wipe. There are FIVE POINT HARNESSES. They are also usable without the shoulder straps, but the five point is so amazingly easy to use. Its comfortable, and most of all keeps the kids in their seats, not dangling over the front. The canopies are more than we could ask for. They cover the boys SEPARATLY, and are high enough for a taller child as well. The canopies block out most of the sun no matter what position the seats are in, and a rain shield is a recommended, available accessory. There are also windows in the canopies. The stroller is also a DREAM to use outdoors. We bring this stroller to the beach, to the park, to the mall, the airport, the zoo/aquarium, the city, and over grass, concrete, sand, the boardwalk, tiles, gravel, and mostly any slight rough terrain... although the swift is NOT for off-road adventures! It doesnt rattle the boys around, and I am able to push it with only a slight more effort than on smoother terrain.

The Swift lacks storage space, cup holders, snack trays, and key holders. The storage is just two small mesh baskets... We were able to start using a small vinyl bag without any pockets or anything as our diaper bag while out with this stroller. We are able to place diapers, pull-ups, wipes, creams/powder, two onsies, a changing pad, and two empty bottles inside the vinyl bag in one of the baskets. In the other basket we place two small receiving blankets, baby jackets, and my small purse. Anything we purchase is able to be hung on the handle bars without tipping over the stroller or blocking off the reclining seats. We also purchased a water bottle that came with an insulated pack, and string that over the handles. The boys get their toys/bottles/pacifiers as well, but we attached 2 "strings" to both sides, so that if anything falls it doesn't fall to the ground. Snacks are held in the special cups, and we just dont give them anything too messy.

We work around all the missing features, and find the stroller more than just manageable, but the only double stroller ANY mom should purchase. We haven't found anything to justify a complaint, or a deduction of any stars in this review. The stroller is safe, comfortable, and holds our precious cargo in a way that we greatly appreciate!
