Product Description

Product Description

The Irish really love their tea and are amongst the most frequent drinkers of tea around the world. In celebration of this tea drinking tradition, Twinings blended a special Irish Breakfast Blend. This tea is best taken with milk and sweetened to taste to bring out the best flavor. Irish Breakfast Decaffeinated is a strong, full-bodied decaffeinated black tea from the regions of Ceylon and Assam expertly blended with a hearthy flavor and delightful aroma.

About the Brand

Since 1706, Twinings has been at the forefront of the tea trade. Customers in more than 100 countries enjoy Twinings products, and not just the popular traditional favorites: Twinings now includes products such as fruit and herbal infusions, aromatic teas, and iced teas. These fresh flavors reflect a worldwide trend toward a healthier and more varied lifestyle. The new flavors are as successful as the traditional ones, because Twinings prepares them using skills acquired through three centuries of experience. After quenching thirsts for so many generations, no one knows better than Twinings how to deliver a drink that's in perfect condition. Although British-based, and still operating in England, Twinings also has plants in North Carolina and Calcutta, India. Success in the competitive worldwide tea market was confirmed in 1972 (and again in 1977) when Twinings became the first tea company to win a Queen's Award for Export.

And of course it's great at night because it doesn't have caffeine to keep you up.

If you think teas is just for when you are sick, you are saddenly mistaken
If you think decaf tea is "weak", I urge you to try again with the Twinnings Irish Breakfast decaf. This isn't a herbal tea that tastes like your neighbors' old grass clippings. This is real tea.
This tea has a rich, strong flavor without bitterness. It has a more robust flavor than Twinning's English Breakfast, which is also quite good. This tea is quite good in the morning as a wake up for those of us who have to avoid caffeine. And of course it's great at night because it doesn't have caffeine to keep you up.
I recommend everybody and anybody to try this tea. It is yummy.

After moving to the US from England, I searched long and hard to find a decent cup of tea. The usual US tea is weak compared to tea in England. Twinings Irish Breakfast Decaf Tea has great flavour. It's a very satisfying taste and the beauty of decaf tea is that even though it is stronger in taste, you do not feel wired. I would highly recommend this product.

Caffeine can often be a problem for me and I often like to have a comforting cup of tea in the evening. I have tried most of the decaffeinated black teas out there and most are poor quality and/or very weak. I'm not overly fond of herbal "teas," Earl Grey or green teas and this is the best decaffeinated black tea I've found, at least readily available in the States. Though not as strong as the equivalent caffeinated Twinings version, it is pretty close and has a lovely full-bodied flavor without bitterness. If you like your tea on the stronger side, simply allow a minute or so longer steeping time on this one(I tend to drink mine brewed strong with a bit of milk).

I admit there are caffeinated black teas (including several loose teas) that I prefer over this one, but based on a lot of searching, this is the best of the decafs and I'm glad it's available for an evening cuppa. I still think there is room for improvement in this product area, but this one is pretty good and is definitely a step above the rest of the field.

TWININGS OF LONDON IRISH BREAKFAST TEA DECAF is one of the finest teas on earth. It is centered around Assam tea, and no one decaffeinates like Twinings. I drink this ever since my doctors did the unforgivable sin and took me off caffeine.

Twinings black teas are utterly without bitterness, are full, robust and give a good kick with breakfast whether it's decaf or not. The British call this kind of good black tea by the quaint term "builder's tea" ~ I learned that from a few friends and heard it mentioned in a movie.

Builder indeed: this is what "TEA" is all about, it has built the modern reputation tea enjoys. If your taste runs to convenience and the tea bag is your favorite bag ever, Twinings is the brand to choose. No more nasty Lipton tea (which we keep on hand only because I never know when I might run out of Twinings).

What the reviewer meant when he wrote it isn't "malty" enough, I'll never guess. Tea has no malt and is not meant to be "malty" ~ you're thinking of Guinness, man! In any case, no real tea lover can avoid or dislike Twinings. It is among the Tea Laws but then you're mad or simple anyways if you don't know the Tea Laws.

Please read my other Twinings tea reviews but before you do, allow me to regale you with a true story of Twinings true quality. I had moved from one family dwelling to my out-of-town apartment. I left behind some Twinings Irish breakfast. When I moved back into the house a decade later, I found that half-full box and decided to make a cuppa. WOW!!--the Chinese are right that aged tea is the finest on earth.

Twinnings Irish Breakfast is the best grocery-sold decaf tea I've discovered (yet). I like my tea, apparently, extremely strong: for a normal mug I will use 2 bags of this stuff and let it steep for 8 or 9 minutes. (Then I add lots of milk and a bit of sugar....yum.) If you do the math this is about 6x more tea-steeping than recommended on the box. With other brands, such as Trader Joe's Irish decaf, I will use 3 teabags and let it steep for 9 or 10 minutes, and it still won't have much flavor to it. I think this is more of a problem with decaf teas than with my taste buds, for what it's worth. When I brew a cup of caffeinated tea it just takes one teabag for perhaps 7 or 8 minutes to get a really nice strong cup of tea. So, while this tea, to me, isn't up to the standards of a really good caffeinated tea, or to what you'll get in a nice tea cafe, it's good enough that I don't feel sorry for myself when I'm drinking a cup. It's ridiculously expensive in my local grocery store ($5 for 20 bags, which works out to 50 cents a serving when I'm using two bags per cup!), so I'm going to start buying it from Amazon now.

The English Breakfast variant is "okay", but I definitely prefer this Irish tea, with its stronger flavor.

I've always been a coffee drinker until a friend introduced me to Twinings Irish breakfast decaffeinated tea, now I occasionally have a cup of coffee but always look forward to my morning cup of tea.
