From Publishers Weekly
A favorite nursery song inspires a fanciful trip through time. Using only the lyrics as text, Harker (Someone, Somewhere) serves up merry watercolors in a rainbow of pale hues. These follow a contemporary boy and his younger sister, stroller and all, as they follow the twinkling (here, silver-foil-stamped) star from their backyard to ancient Bethlehem and the baby Jesus. A sweet-natured adventure. Ages 2-up.

reS-Gr 2-Harker's soft-focus paintings, done in pen and ink and watercolor, present a new interpretation of Taylor's 1806 classic poem. Using the entire original text, illustrations depict two modern young children and their dog following a twinkling foil star into the past, where they journey with shepherds, still following the star, to view the newborn Jesus. The art, reminiscent of the work of both Helen Oxenbury and Sam Williams, provides the unique context linking the poem to the Christmas star. Most libraries will want a copy or two.-L. F.
