One of the best forms of C, quality and works well,
By avid mac user (midwest) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twinlab Allergy-C Caps, 100 Capsules (Health and Beauty)
This is one of better companies and forms i've personally found and believe in. I normally take semi-high amountsof vitamin c since humans no longer can make it on their own, but animals bodies still can in high amounts. This sago-palm extracted version i've noticed works well in my body, although be careful not to overuse as you can develop flatulence. Find your limit and stick with it. C works wonders for overall health(well-being) and helping to keep allergies at bay. I'm not a big fan of tablets or generic 3rd party vitamin c, and this one i feel is one of the best out there. I take 4 capsules twice a day at minimum. Watch pricing, look for 2 packs and don't buy if price takes those weird price jacks out of nowhere lol. At the time, i remember paying 2 paks(200 ea.)at under $20. (which was a great deal at the time). My personal favorite form / brand of vitamin c of all others(so far) *** notice *** for fast relief that works on most allergies(see below) Eclectic Institute offers the allergy herb "stinging nettles" which works very well for serious allergy relief! (see my other review), make sure to look for FREEZE-DRIED stinging nettles though as it maintains the ACTIVE compounds in the herb, as Eclectic Institute brand does :)

Vitamin Super Hero (for colds, allergies, even shingles),
By Denise H. Williams, LMT (New York , NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twinlab Allergy C Buffered (Health and Beauty)
This is my "go to" vitamin. I use it year-round at a varying dosages depending on the situation. My preference for this particular company's form of vitamin C - - It's citrus-free which is especially good for individuals that are sensitive to citrus - It's free of other common allergens such as corn, gluten etcetera which make it a good choice for people with multiple food allergies/sensitivities. Sago palm is the vitamin C source. - It's buffered (with magnesium citrate) which makes it easier to take in higher doses. Your stomach will thank you. If you're doing a vitamin C flush, your rear end will thank you;) For example - During cough & cold season as soon as I feel something coming on (sore throat, runny nose) I perform a vitamin C flush (2000mg an hour until bowel tolerance). - When I work in hospital, giving massage to post surgical patients, I take 1500mg before and after the visit - 2 to 3 weeks before allergy season I boost my intake to 3000 - 6000mg per day (divided doses) TwinLab's Quercitin Plus C is also great for environmental seasonal allergies TwinLab Quercetin Plus C, 100 Capsules (Pack of 2). General ausggestion is for quercitin - Up to 2000mg daily divided dosage. Note: good food sources of quercitin are apples and onions - By the way when I had a bout of terribly painful shingles Vitamin C was at my side. Allergy-C in combination with other key supplements helped me to get over shingles in less than 10 days. On average shingle can run its course for 2-3 weeks. Yooooow!! FYI: The US FDA minimum daily recommendation is just enough to prevent disease. That's like saying you should be satisfied with an income that is $1 dollar over the poverty level. Why pay your body minimum wage? Disclaimer: This information should not be used in place of a consultation with a competent health care or nutrition professional.
