More About the Author

Patsy Clairmont's quick wit and depth of biblical knowledge combine in a powerful pint-size package. She helps you to laugh God's truths right into your heart. Her mission to provide humor and hope for healing comes from her own struggles. A recovering agoraphobic, Patsy speaks at Women of Faith conferences, addressing tens of thousands of women, and has written more than twenty-four books, including Catching Fireflies, All Cracked Up, and I Grew Up Little. She loves a rainy day, a good book, and a deep cushioned chair. Given a day off, she shops, solves the world's problems with a friend over lunch, and hugs the stuffing out of her two grandsons, Justin and Noah. Patsy and her husband of fifty-two years, Les, live in Tennessee.

This book is fabulous. I think I was caught off guard by how much I enjoyed it. Author Patsy Clairmont has created an invaluable resource full of wisdom and advice every woman I know could utilize. I feel like have had tea with a dear friend and she has listened to all my worries and frustrations and given me truth for what ails me.

A good sign that a book is a fast favorite is the need for a highlighter. Even as I read the first few pages of the introduction, I found my self underlining and dog-earing pages to return to! In Twirl, Patsy Clairmont gives the tools needed to jump off the merry-go-round of life. She not only nails down the problem of busyness, but offers so many practical solutions. I have read so many books that tell me I am too busy or missing the big picture. Very few of those books offer advise on how to slow down and relish the day-to-day. My favorite chapter is entitled "Edit." Edit is officially my motto for 2014. I will listen more and talk less. I will give advice only when I have been asked for it! I want to be the woman Patsy describes in the introduction, " There is something about a sane person who has a pulse on her life, one who is setting healthy limits, who is winsome, enviable, and honorable."

I was given a complimentary copy of Twirl by its publisher and BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review. I have not been compensated and all opinions are my own.

When I chose this book to review, it was half because I liked the cover and half because the synopsis intrigued me. I didn’t know much about Patsy Clairmont, except that she was a Women of Faith speaker. So imagine my surprise when I received the book and her picture on the back cover showed her to be about 20 years older than I expected. I thought perhaps this book would turn out to be a dud – one of those frilly, fluffy how to make yourself feel better books for women. But it wasn’t.

Twirl is made up of 26 short chapters that read almost like blogs or devotionals. It actually reminded me of Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. Clairmont shares a lesson that she’s learned in each, usually backed by a verse and a story. Being the lover of words that I am, I appreciated the quotes sprinkled throughout the chapters. Clairmont writes as though she is sitting next to you sipping a glass of iced tea. I didn’t relate to every story in every chapter, but it was an easy, edifying read all the same. And each chapter ends with three questions, which you can ponder yourself or discuss with a friend. My favorite was actually the very first chapter, which went right to the heart of the issue – identity: there’s more to you than you thought. Sometimes we just need to be reminded of our value. As you read through each of the 26 chapters, you will know that.

The publisher provided me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Since the pace of my life is pretty fast, the only time I really get a chance to read is right before I go to sleep. So I want a book that will be a "night tuck" that will let me fall asleep with thoughts that inspire and encourage after a weary day. That's not to say Twirl will put to you sleep! :-) On the contrary, Twirl is a gentle read where Patsy's shares her heartfelt words and stories that helped me focus on what's really important in life -- faith, family, beauty, laughter, art, creativity... just to name a few. If you are super busy but craving a few moments of pure joy, then pick up a copy of Twirl. You won't be disappointed.

Patsy is a master craftsman at words, as evidenced in all of her writing and speaking. However, TWIRL puts a new spin on things (pun intended). My favorite part is the fact that each chapter stands alone, so you can pick it up and read and be lifted at any time and in any place in the book. TWIRL is a luxurious invitation to breathe and embrace life in all of its simplicity. It sweetly takes us by the hand and leads us from "spinning" to "twirling," and twirling is just far more fun! Simply reading the table of contents makes me feel lighter! We would all do well to read this volume and learn from the wisdom that is found in throwing our arms open wide and embracing the heart and soul of life.

I wanted to share this book. The front of the book is what caught my attention. I love pinwheels not only to play with, but they are fun to make as well. Ok enough on that LOL.

This book caught my attention when I read the description. We spend most of our life spinning when we should just be twirling, besides it's just more fun. Twirl puts a spin on life, on things...yes that pun is intended. I enjoyed the book it was a great read. I laughed, some were close to heart. What I really liked was that she had questions that were thought provoking. I enjoyed them because it would make you think even more about what you've just read. One of those questions was this "When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?" That would be fun feel free to post your responses. I'd like to hear some of your times.

Another thing I had a notebook at my side with pen and a highlighter of course, hehehe. I just had to one record all those little "nuggets" I wanted to remember for later. I wrote so much, but I am so glad I did. I even included the page number and side of the page so I could just zip right back to it when I wanted to or needed to. I would recommend this book to friends and family.
