5.0 out of 5 stars A new approach to natural philosphy, September 19, 2009
This review is from: Twisdom (Twitter Wisdom): A Philosopher Ponders Life in 140 Characters or Less (Paperback)
Amid the rumors Twitter is only being used for lunch updates and inside jokes, people are engaging and building relationships, learning from one another, and finding a simple style of communication whereby getting to the point matters. I've followed Tom as both as philosopher and writer, and now a tweeter, as he exemplifies why I appreciate social mediums. In each venue he enlarges my thinking, sets me off in new directions, and helps me reflect on little things I may have missed in my busy day. This clever book is well written, thoughtfully presented, and has the lightheartedness appropriate for its topic. If you're just starting out or ready for some further perspective, take a look. There are more than a few characters to enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Twisdom from TomVMorris, September 19, 2009
This review is from: Twisdom (Twitter Wisdom): A Philosopher Ponders Life in 140 Characters or Less (Paperback)
I've known TomVMorris on Twitter for some time now; this collection of "Twisdom" is something that belongs on ANY shelf, whether you're a Twitter fan or not.

The short nature of Twitter - 140 characters or less - makes this a pithy, easy-to-read assemblage of some of the best meaning-of-life, and how to live it "tweets" you'll ever find.

5.0 out of 5 stars Twitter remix: Bite-sized philosophy delivers super-sized insights, September 8, 2009
This review is from: Twisdom (Twitter Wisdom): A Philosopher Ponders Life in 140 Characters or Less (Paperback)
Tom's had a lot of obsessions including guitars, fountain pens and watches. His newest obsession is Twitter and with Twisdom he has managed to take the ancient wisdom of philosophers and translate it for users of the newest social networking technology.

I've read most of Tom's other books and, while this one shares the depth of thought and insight of his other works, it is completely new in format and style.

One of the problems with Twitter is that the insights you develop or discover are lost so quickly in the stream of new Tweets. This book does a great job of capturing the truly valuable bits and restructuring them in a way that makes them even more meaningful.

My only problem with this book is that I didn't think of it first!

I read this book twice only to realize, I am following some smart tweeps on twitter.
He explains it so well and puts it all in perspective.
What a great read for people who don't know twitter and for tweeps who do!
LOVED IT!
Will now buy for all my loved ones that don't understand my obsession with twitter.
Thanks Mr. Morris!

Too often the good tweets get lost in between meaningless hashtags, jokes of the day, or how to make a million dollars a day scams. This book helps capture those tweets that you might have missed or wanted to hang on to. A great and quick read.

5.0 out of 5 stars TWISDOM in 140 characters of Less, April 10, 2010

TWISDOM
A Philosopher Ponders Life
In 140 Characters of Less
Tom V. Morris
A Wisdom/Works Book
ISBN: 978-144865-1504
$15.99 - Paperback
174 pages
Reviewer: Annie Slessman

I own almost everything Tom Morris has written. From If Aristotle Ran General Electric to The Seven C's of Success, I have marveled at his wisdom and his willingness to share that wisdom with the general public.

Tom's latest book, TWISDOM, A Philosopher Ponders Life in 140 Characters or Less is filled with "twisdom" that jump starts your mind and your own willingness to share.

I had not succumbed to Twitter as yet, although I admit to having a Facebook page. After reading this work, I set up my own Twitter page and hope everyone reading this review will join me in spreading daily wisdom.

I earmarked so many twisdoms that my copy mimics a corkboard. Tweeting seems to be the most concise, tight writing out there today. Perfection would be: Tom Morris, today's best known and loved philosopher, in front of a keyboard sharing his wisdom in 140 characters or less. Folks, it just doesn't get any better than this.

This is Tom Morris's 20th book. Whether you run your own corporation, run the streets or simply run your household, this book will find the core of your being and propel you toward better things in your life. At $15.99, that's quite a bargain.

I know, at 1155 characters I have used up a lot of Twitter space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plato in 140 Characters, September 26, 2009
This review is from: Twisdom (Twitter Wisdom): A Philosopher Ponders Life in 140 Characters or Less (Paperback)
Historically, philosophy has been seen as boring and for someone else. Dr Tom Morris turns that idea on its head in this fresh, living look on philosophy, brought to us in short 140 character bursts!

His words are witty, current, and refreshing. "Twisdom" is an uplifting book we can all appreciate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging, Thought provoking & Amazingly fun!, September 23, 2009
This review is from: Twisdom (Twitter Wisdom): A Philosopher Ponders Life in 140 Characters or Less (Paperback)
Tom Morris takes you through the process of being a newbie on twitter with fun & thought provoking tweets. He weaves the reader through what it's like to start out on the fastest growing social network around Twitter, even when you're a famous philosopher. Twisdom is Tom's 20th book & I can't wait to read the rest. In a 140 characters he's able to dispense more wisdom then most can people can in an entire book. Don't just read this book live it! Give thought to each of his wonderful tweets and begin the path to a better life. This is a book to savor over & over again. For each time you read and reflect on a tweet you will open your mind to all of the possibilities in the words that are written.

Buy this book not only for yourself but for everyone you know.

It's a funny, self-effacing, yet often surprisingly profound, revealing set of "tweets" - communications in 140 characters or less - that, put together in a chronology of Morris' introduction and immersion into "social media," read remarkably like a narrative.

It's not what you might expect. It isn't a simple gathering of "wisdom" or simple "quotations."

There's a real STORY here.Twisdom (Twitter Wisdom): A Philosopher Ponders Life in 140 Characters or Less

Morris lets us IN: his thoughts, AND his insights. Despite his accomplishments and a Yale Ph.D., he's unafraid to freely admit his newbie status. It's fun to read along as he gets his "tweet" wet in the Twitterverse.

Did I mention? You really ought to buy this book. - Elizabeth Williams Bushey (@inklesstales on Twitter)
