Leann is on her way!,
By GlitterJ (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Twisted Angel (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of Leann Rimes since I first heard "Blue " on the radio. Recently in the last few years she has strayed from her country roots to songs like "I Need You", Can't fight The Moonlight and more recently "Life Goes On". While many critics feel that her new cd isn't very good , I have to disagree. Its only natural for an artist to want to grow with their music, and especially when they've been compared to a classic singer their whole career; Patsy Cline. Leann will always have a country voice, but she can sing pop and R&b very well, and even though she may lose fans with this transition , she can at least say she's making the music she wants.. My personal fave song off this cd is Twisted Angel, a song Leann co-wrote, with its bluesy, almost country twang it definitely proves even in her early 20's Leann still can sing the heck out of a song!

LeAnn's best effort,

Would someone tell those country music nuts to lay off LeAnn for crossing over into mainstream music? She sounds better than ever and you can hear it in her voice and her songs."Twisted Angel" is the first album since LeAnn declared that she would no longer sing "real" country music. This album blends pop, rock, and country to create a winning formula that LeAnn can take advantage of because no female currently sings in this mixed genre. Even though there are some in-your-face country tracks on the disc, it's a good listen. Life Goes On: 4/5 - It wouldn't have been my choice for the first single off the album but it's a good song. Wound Up: 3/5 - Your typical country song about some weird topic. It's not the worst but it could be better. The Safest Place: 4/5 - LeAnn can sing any song in any genre but she really shines on ballads, this song including. Trouble With Goodbye: 2/5 - One word: corny. Damn: 5/5 - A great song that shows LeAnn's fantastic vocal ability. Easily one of the best songs on the album. Suddenly: 5/5 - My choice for the first single, this track is the best the album has to offer. LeAnn could take this song and its genre and run with it. Just an awesome song. Tic Toc: 3/5 - And people complain about Britney Spears being too sexual? Not one of the album's highlights. Sign Of Life: 3/5 - Not bad a bad song but not a good song, either. Review My Kisses: 4/5 - A mysterious song that sucks you in. It compliments LeAnn's vocals perfectly. No Way Out: 4/5 - Though LeAnn's vocal ability doesn't come alive in this track, it's a catchy tune that isn't that bad. Love is An Army: 4/5 - A weird song that you'll need to listen to a few times before you really enjoy listening to it. You Made My Find Myself: 5/5 - Even though it's the album's power ballad, LeAnn's awesome vocal talent isn't even pushed when it comes to hitting the notes and keeping the volume up. Twisted Angel: 1/5 - A stupid song that should have been left off the album entirely.

I bought LeAnn's CD the first day it came out after hearing clips of the album on her official site and let me tell you something, the clips were wonderful but the album is AWESOME! I have not really been a LeAnn fan as I am more of a pop music fan but ever since the Coyote Ugly soundtrack, LeAnn's been blowing the world away! Here's what I thought of the album:1. Life Goes On- The first single from this album which does sound more pop than it does country. Overall, an awesome message. 9/10 2. Wound Up- The best track by far on this CD. Kind of reminds of Britney Spears' "Lucky," what with the story about Carrie Ann and all. Great lyrics, great beats, and LeAnn's vocals are truly amazing on this track. 10/10 3. The Safest Place- A ballad about feeling safest in a man's arms. Good song. 8/10 4. Trouble With Goodbye- This song really sounds R&B with the beats and all. LeAnn says goodbye in different languages. 9/10 5. Damn- A mid-tempo song about liking the way love makes you feel but not wanting to lose control. 8/10 6. Suddenly- A fast paced song about being independent and realizing that you're alone. Good song. 10/10 7. Tic Toc- This is the song that has critiques all buzzing. LeAnn describes what it feels like to have an orgasm and what it takes to get her there. Complete with little whimpers. Very poppy feel. 9/10 8.Sign of Life- About living life to the fullest. 8/10 9.Review My Kisses- LeAnn has said that this song kind of describes the way she feels about her husband. Nice, slow ballad. 10/10 10. No Way Out- Really awesome, mid-tempo song about being in love but then feeling trapped and having no way to get out. 10/10 11. Love Is An Army- Slow ballad. 7/10 12. You Made Me Find Myself- Talks about being on your own after a relationship. Written by pop singer Tina Arena. 9/10 13. Twisted Angel- Good song with guitars. Has a very rock feeling going on. 10/10 Overall, this CD is awesome and if you are a pop fan, definitely get this CD because Leann has an awesome voice and the songs have some awesome beats. You will not be dissappointed. In addition, Leann cowrote 4 of the songs on here. You go, Leann!!!
